Can I Use Different Bearing Seal Than the Size the Axle Calls For

Question:

Is the difference nominal? The hub specs on my 3,500lb Lippert Super Lube Axle call for a bearing seal with a 1.69 ID x 2.565 OD. On etrailer you have a 1.719 ID x 2.565. An ID difference of 0.762mm. Is the difference nominal? Or should I continue to source.

You will need to use a grease seal with the same inner diameter listed on the hub specs for your axle.

You may want to use a digital caliper to measure the spindle instead of the old seal as old parts dimensions can vary after use. It's more reliable to either use the part number or to measure the spindles. Old seals do not measure the same as when they were new. I have included a diagram showing where to measure on the spindle.
