Weight of the Thule OutWay Bike Racks

I have heard that this bike rack is heavy, how heavy is it?

Expert Reply:
The Thule OutWay Platform # TH65JV that you referenced is a bit heavy. However, this latest version of this rack tips the scales at 28 lbs.
For a lighter rack that is very similar with the exception that it is a hanging style bike rack check out the # TH45JV. This rack only weighs 13 lbs.
What makes this rack far superior to the others is the attachment system. It uses 2 rubber coated straps to attach to the vehicle rather than 6 nylon straps like other racks. This makes installation super quick and easy.
This carrier comes with locks for both the rack and the bikes to deter theft.
If you plan on carrying any women's or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Swagman Easy-Out Women's and Alternative Frame Bike Adapter # 64005 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance.
