Is Converter Included with Tekonsha Taillight Wiring Harness # 118379 for 1998 Toyota Tacoma
Question:
The ad says a converter is needed. Where is the converter for this part?

The Tekonsha # 118379 does include a taillight converter, it is the black plastic box mounted inline on the wiring harness.
Your Tacoma uses what's called a separate, or 3-wire taillight system where the running lamps, brake lamps and turn signal are all on separate circuits. The vast majority of trailers use a simpler combined or two wire lighting system, where the turn signals and brake lamp are combined on the same circuit. The taillight converter takes the right turn, left turn and brake light circuits and combines them onto two circuits, one carrying right turn/brake, the other left turn/brake.
I've linked you to the installation instructions for the wiring harness as well as to an install video.
