Will Using Curt Adjustable Ball Mount with a Reducer Sleeve Lower the Ball Mount Capacity

This appears it will meet my needs but I would need to use the reducer sleeve 2 1/2inch to 2 that came with my Dodge Ram 2 1/2inch Hitch Receiver. Would using the sleeve have any impact on the overall capacity/rating when using the 45900 ball mount?

I spoke with my contact at Curt about adjustable ball mount # C45900. He said that if you used a reducer sleeve that it will not reduce the capacity of the ball mount. You will want to check with the hitch manufacturer (or Dodge if it is an OEM hitch) to determine if the capacity of the hitch itself is reduced.

For safe operation of the Channel Style Adjustable Ballmount #C45900 Channel Style Adjustable Ballmount the set screw isn't absolutely required, but it would be recommended since it will reduce movement of the ball mount.
