Today well be reviewing part number TR63046. This is the Tow Ready Trailer Hitch Receiver Mounted Tow Strap Loop. It's going to be rated at 8000 pounds. It's going to feature the hitch mounted tow ring. It's going to feature a solid shank. This is compatible with 2-inch by 2-inch trailer hitch receivers, again giving us an overall weight capacity of 8000 pounds. If we take a measurement of the overall length measuring from end-to-end it's going to give us a measurement of about 12 inches.
The shank measuring from this point here to this point here, that's going to give us a measurement of about 8-1/2 inches. The distance that we have from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the shank, it's going to measure right on 3 inches. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the tow hook, measuring to this point here, that's going to give us a measurement of about 3-1/2 inches. If we take a measurement from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the loop opening, that's going to give us a measurement of about 5-1/2 inches. Basically just measuring from the center of the hitch pin hole to the end of the shank. This is going to conveniently provide an attachment point for winches and tow straps.
We'll take a measurement of the opening that we have at the widest point, inside-to-inside. That's going to give us a measurement of about 2-1/4 inch. Now the tow hook loop it can be removed simply by un-threading this portion here. You can see there that, that will come completely off. Very easy to re-install. All you got to do is put it over the shank, line up the holes and then thread it back through until you get it all the way secured.
It does have a little slot here that way you can stick a bar in there and you can get it as tight as you need to. Also when you need to take this off you can easily loosen that up as well. It's just a little slot to gain some leverage. The width or the diameter of the actual bar is going to give us a measurement of 7/8-inch. It's a really simple installation. I'll go ahead and take the receiver tube of our hitch here, slide the shank in, and once we get our pin holes lined up with one another that's when you can install a hitch pin and a clip or a hitch pin and lock.
These are going to be sold separately. You can refer to our website to check out some options. The one I'm using for our demonstration today is part number PC3, that's going to be your 5/8-inch pin. It's going to come with a clip. That's going to do it for our review of part number TR63046. This is the Tow Ready Trailer Hitch Receiver Mounted Tow Strap Loop. .

The product seems very solid. The fact that it is a single unit, and not separate parts welded together makes me think it is stronger than similar products that have pieces welded onto the main shaft.
I have not used it yet, but it fit the hitch on my 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 perfectly.
Also kudos to etrailer.com for upgrading my shipping at no extra charge. Got the product within 24 hrs of ordering. Can't beat that.

I installed a front hitch on my motorhome because we went out on the beach camping and I needed a tow point in the front of the motorhome in the event I got stuck. lucky for us I did not get stuck in the sand but a few people did and I used this receiver on my son's 4X4 to pull them out. Good product at a good price.

Exactly as described. Solid shank and beefy D ring means this will not fail before anything else. Probably pull hitch off my truck first!!

I really can't do a reviews on this product as I've never been able to use it!
Since I got it, there hasn't (yet) been a "rescue" incident when I needed to install it and pull someone's vehicle out of a ditch or snow/ice (speaking about Colorado in the Winter). As originally intended though when I purchased it, I ALWAYS keep it in my car "just in case" but as said, never (yet) needed it.
Also, I moved from Colorado back in September, so I missed using it in one of the snowstorms up there this very recent Colorado Winter to rescue people. As per usual, when out & about in Colorado (in my 2014 Subaru AWD Crosstrek), if I ever came across a vehicle stuck in the snow I'd try to help however I could, except I'd try to PUSH them, not having a STURDY (and SERIOUS -- Subaru OEM screw-in "towing eyebolts" seem too weak/light-duty and can't be used with the tow-strap/line at an angle) rear towing-point as I do NOW with this "towing shackle" item.
Now I'm in El Paso, TX (for 2-3 years) and still carry it in my car (now a 2016 Honda Pilot AWD), but not for use in Winter snow -- it doesn;t snow here anymore -- but out in the desert in case someone I see while I'm out there (or maybe even for ME) is stuck in the sand and needs a tow-out. With this item and my towing-strap, I can help.
So, even after a year of ownership, I've never actually USED it, but it will always be an item I will keep in my car for emergency use...for helping ME get unstuck or someone else.
The product seems very well-made and heavy-duty, so I am pleased with its purchase.

Product appears to be well built. The shackle alone costs almost as much as the entire Trailer Hitch Tow Receiver. FYI the 2" x 2" attachment is solid, not hollow.

Very reasonable price for this shackle. The hitch insert is heavy and solid in the rear section where the shackle is located, and boxed, square stock ahead of that. The D-ring is big and screws and unscrews nicely. Nice, heavy piece, like it should be. My order got to my front door 2 days after my order. Good deal. Thank you. I recommend this product.

Very pleased with this product. The end that goes into the receiver is solid steel, not tube steel. This will be strong enough to pull some small trees out of our back yard, roots and all. Just delivered today so haven't used it yet. I'm sure there will be no problems using it, Thanks

Very tight fit on my receiver. Had to use flap wheel inside receiver so it fit more easily. Tried it on my other vehicle receiver and it fit fine, so probably more related to my receiver than the product. Though the hitch use use in both reveivers works great on both.

This should do the trick. Heavy and solid. Fits well in 2" receiver. I haven't actually pulled anything with it yet, but I have no doubts that it will hold up.

Fits great. Real solid heavy piece. Not hollow cheaply made like some seen on other web sites with similar price. Plan to use in case vehicle gets stuck off road and needs a pull out. Feel confident it will work as quality looks good.
