Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer.com. And today, we are looking at our Malone YakSwing Fold Away Kayak Storage System. This is a nice wall-mounted storage system for when you wanna mount your kayaks up to your wall and not have 'em just lyin' around on your garage floor. I have this here with one of our smaller kayaks but this does have 150 pound weight capacity, so that will fit most of your sit-inside and sit-on-top kayaks. This system comes with two arms to carry a single kayak, and I have seen people get multiple sets in order to install kayaks all the way up their wall. Taking a look at the inside of our kayak carrier here, we have this nice foam padding here at the bottom just to help support your kayak, and make sure it doesn't get any extra scuffs and scratches.

You also have this welded cable ring here for if you wanna use a kayak or a cable lock to secure your kayaks. Notice how you have this short but wide design for this kind of system. If you have a stand-up paddle board, we do have another version that comes up a little bit longer in order to support those stand-up paddle boards. You're definitely gonna want one of these if you wanna save on space, or organize your garage, or your area. So, let's take some measurements to figure out how much space you need for these.

So from the top, right there where that mounting point is to the bottom of our kayak carrier at the bottom of that loop, it is 27 inches tall. It does come with this ring for your cable locks. So, measuring from that end to the end where that mounting bracket is, it's three and a half inches wide. With it in the outward position, it sits out 16 inches. Now, let's put it into the storage position.

In this position, it lies flat against the wall. So, it lies up an inch and a half from the wall to the end of your carrier. And as for how wide it is here, it's 15 and a half inches. Before install, you first need to check where you're gonna mount your kayak carrier. So, you can use the carrier itself as a template for where you're going to be installing it.

Double check your measurements. I already did the first one, so we can do the second one together. So make a mark with a pen, right there. Now I'm gonna be making a pilot hole with this little drill bit. So make sure it's lined up and go for it! When you create all your pilot holes, you can then use the included hardware and mount your carrier completely. Okay, that's it. It's just four screws for each side. And that's it for the install. The way this works is that you can have them in different positions. This is a storage position. And when you wanna mount your kayak, you just lift it up, turn it around and pop it back into that groove right over there, and you're ready to put a kayak on there. So my personal thoughts about this kayak system is that I do like how sturdy it is, as well as how easy it was to install. It was just four easy screws to mount to your wall, and then that gave me a whole system to carry my kayaks with. It's also pretty nice, strong and durable. I do like that welded ring there for our cable lock. And it's very simple, so that makes sense because it's one of your more affordable systems, and I think it works pretty well.
