Pivoting Upright Arms with Adjustable Tire Grips

Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

The Tire Hold has pivoting upright arms with adjustable tire grips that grab your bikes firmly by the wheels - not the frames. These grips allow you to rapidly load and unload your bikes, and they won't scratch or scuff the paint. The grips have slots on the inside so you can adjust them to accommodate the wheel size of each bike.

To load your bikes simply set the tire grips to the correct tire size, set your bikes on the trays, rotate the upright arms against the tires, and press down on the tire grips until they're snug.

Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

The arms are secured by ratcheting mechanisms that slide along the trays. Simply press the silver button on each mechanism to release and slide.

Grooved Wheel Trays

Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

The wheel trays have 3 grooves in the track that accommodate narrow 18c road bike tires up to 3" wide mountain bike tires. The Tire Hold doesn't have cradles for the wheels like most platform-style bike racks have. This allows you to position your bikes on the rack exactly where you want them, not where the cradles dictate you place them. This helps prevent your handlebars and other bike parts from bumping into each other.

Folding and Tilting Design

Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

The rack tilts down - with or without bikes loaded - so you can access your vehicle's rear cargo area.

Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

The front-mounted hand lever on the base is easily accessible even with your bikes loaded. No more crawling through bikes or squeezing between the rack and the vehicle to hit the tilt-release lever. Simply squeeze it until you see the red indicator, then lower the rack. When you raise the rack back up you will hear a click and the red indicator will disappear.

Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

When the rack is unloaded you can squeeze the hand lever to fold it up for storage. This makes it easier to park in small lots at the trail head or in cramped parking garages, and it keeps the rack out of the way of other vehicles and riders.

Tool-Free Installation with Anti-Rattle Device

Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

The hand knob at the base of the rack lets you tighten the shank in your receiver. Just slide the shank into your hitch, insert the hitch pin, and turn the knob until snug. The knob deploys an anti-rattle wedge at the tip of the shank to help take play out of the hitch connection.

Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

You can set the integrated stopper so that the shank automatically aligns with your hitch pin hole. The first time you install the rack you can adjust the sliding stopper so that it touches the face of your hitch. Then each time you install it going forward it's set up so that the hole in the shank automatically lines up with the hitch pin hole. This prevents you from having to bend down and check for alignment each time you install the rack on your vehicle.

Tool-Free Installation with Anti-Rattle Device

Inno Tire Hold loaded on vehicle

The hand knob on the front of the rack has a keyed lock that secures the rack to your vehicle. To secure your bikes to the rack, run the thick steel cable through your bikes' frames and tighten the hand knob down over the cable's looped end.

Here's what I love about it: It's super easy and secure to put the bikes on and off. Here's what I don't love: It's heavy and difficult to put on and off the car. It's large enough that when it's in the upright position, it blocks my tail lights, so I can't just leave it on the car always. Overall I do like the product, but I am willing to spend more to replace it with a different model which holds 2 bikes and expands to 4, so it will be easier/lighter to mount to the vehicle, and more reasonable to keep on all the time.

This is a good rack, however at over a hundred pounds I can understand wanting to look for a different rack. I recommend taking a look at part # Y02443-2 which does allow you to carry 2 or 4 bikes.

by:

Excellent bike rack! Well packaged and very functional.
However, the there is not a lock on the hitch pin. The pin threads in and then you insert a clip on the other side to secure it to the pigtail on the truck or RV. Anyone could come along and pull the clip, loosen the pin and run off with the rack and whatever bikes are on it. So, that would be the only detraction.

by:

LOVE THIS! No issues assembling and installing. Easy and quick mounting and dismounting of bikes. ADVICE FOR OTHERS: Don't have shorter wheelbase bikes, but seems like it might be a little too wide for kids bikes. Great that the arms have adjustable loops for smaller tires, but when one arm is placed in the appropriate position on a small bike, the other tire will be nowhere near the other arm.

by:

Easy to assemble, easy to install, amazingly simple to put bikes onto the rack while being extremely stable

by:

Great rack easy to assemble and use once installed on the hitch. It is on the heavier side but has few plastic parts which I prefer. etrailer had a great price with free shipping. Package came in great shape and was very nicely packaged as I had read on some other reviews.

by:

Just put it together and planning a trip with it in a week. But quality seems good and was very easy to construct.

by:

Pros:
I love the design. Very fast to
remove and reinstall bikes. Holds them solidly so there is no movement during transport. Because it only touches the tires, it doesn't damage the bikes. Simple to use once installed on the vehicle. Elegant design with a minimum of moving parts. Hitch tightens and locks safely to the vehicle. Easily adjustable for various size bikes. Heavy duty.

Cons: It is difficult to get into the box receiver on the vehicle due to the weight and visibility when lifting from the back. Also the tracks get dirt inside and it is unclear how to clean them out so they are not as smooth as they were to start.

by:

I bought this rack 1 year ago and it has been the best rack I have ever owned. The simplicity of the rack is what I like the most about it. Loading the bikes is so simple my kids (11yr and 13yrs old)are able to lock there bikes into place. My family are all MTBer’s and with this rack we can bring our 4 bikes wherever we want to ride. Anyone who sees this rack always compliments about how it’s looks so heavy duty. I would highly recommend this 4 bike rack.

by:

I have used many bike racks over time. this bike rack is the easiest to assemble of any of them. It is solid with no shake at all. It holds the four bikes we travel with superbly- nothing touches the frame, no bikes touch each other which is extremely important as my bikes are very expensive. The only problem for me was the receiver length. Since we put the bikes on the back of the RV, the handle bar of the inside bike hit the back of the RV. So we purchased a receiver extender. It works great. I suggest the Roadmaster anti rattle hitch extender because it screws into the hitch resulting in no shake or rattle. Also, the lowering and raising mechanism 0f the rack is well placed and easy to use for a single individual. Our other rack needed two people to raise and lower it.

by:

One year into owning this 4-bike rack and it hasn't let me down once. Great flexibility for almost any type of bike, from 20" kids bikes with rack and fenders to a 29er dual suspension or fat bike. The four bike rack is extremely heavy and I can barely carry it and install myself, but I won't complain as it's built so well and I appreciate the toughness.

by:

It’s good one

by:

I had a Kuat Sherpa 2.0 that I sold because we needed the additional bike carrying capacity as our whole family are cycling now. I opted for this Inno rack because I already have their ski/snowboard rack and to save some money as the Kuat NV 2.0 4-bike rack is priced so much higher and estimated delivery times pushed until early Spring/2021.
Well, take it from me. Spend the extra money and avoid this rack at all cost. Assembly was easy, quick and packaging was top notch. Unfortunately, that’s where all the positive feedback ends for this product. This is not a stable rack even WITHOUT any bikes loaded onto it. With the threaded hitch bolt installed and the so-called anti-rattle adjusted at its tightest, I was still able to swing the rack from side to side as the shaft of this rack would just move easily inside the hitch. It also has play at the main pivot joint pushing the rack front to back and vice versa when in the upright position.
Unfortunately, I wish I didn’t have to eat up the return shipping charges and hope etrailer.com does a better review for this product. At the end of the day, I don’t want to risk a bike or bikes possibly falling off this rack during transport. This has turned into a more costly expense and regret not spending more the first time for either a Kuat or Thule 4-bike carrier.

by:

Really good rack! The only drawback is that it is really heavy and awkward to install, but once installed it’s very stable, versatile and simple to load with bikes.

by:

Best rack. Had 4 bikes on it for a 6 hr trip and nothing moved. 2 medium 29ers, 1 XL hybrid, and 1 16” kids mtn. Highly recommended.

by:

I liked the 2 bike version of inno's tire hold rack so much I got the 4 bike model. It's adjustable, sturdy and easy to use.

\/ when the rack is more expensive than one of your cars.

by:

Great product and extremely easy to put together. The instructions aren’t as clear but after watching one quick video it was the easiest thing ever. Very easy to you and very good looking coat protection.

by:

Very easy to mount and unmount bikes. Very easy to lower to get to the trunk. All our friends and family ask where we got it from. However, they do not end up purchasing it due to the price. It is worth it since we bike all the time.

Still works. Very easy to load and unload bikes. Get compliments on it all the time.

by:

Does the job but is very heavy and bulky. Not easy to take on/off. Would be magical if came apart in 2 bike increments.wouldn’t recommend due to how bulky and big it is.

  • How To Carry 4 Various Bikes On A 2019 Subaru Ascent And Have Access To The Trunk
The SportRack Ridge Swing 4 Bike Rack - 2" Hitches - Swinging # SR2415 will certainly be able to swing out far enough to gain access to the trunk of your 2019 Subaru Ascent. I attached a demonstration video which shows this being accomplished on a similar vehicle, the Subaru Outback. For any oddly-shaped bikes such as kid's, step-thru, women's, or full-suspension bikes, you will want to add an adapter bar such as # SR0500. Yes, as long as you have a 2 inch hitch receiver on your 2014 Acura MDX, the Inno Tire Hold 4 Bike Platform Rack # INH142 will work perfectly. The great thing about the Tire Hold is that it holds bikes by the wheels to avoid any frame contact. This rack also tilts away from the vehicle so you can access your trunk even with the bikes loaded, and it includes locks to secure your investment. Just keep in mind that this rack does weigh 118 lbs, so you'll just want to take that into consideration...

Another 4 bike rack I would have you consider is the Yakima HoldUp, item # Y02443, along with the Plus 2 Adapter for HoldUp 2 Bike Carrier, 2 inch Hitches, item # Y02446. This rack is a wheel mount style for ease of loading and unloading the bikes and secures the bikes, keeping them from contacting each other or the back of the vehicle. This style is also a good choice for mountain bikes with suspensions because it is it does not compress the frame of the bike and wear the shocks.
