Today, we're going to show you part number DZDB-2602. This is the DZ Specialty Series Under-body toolbox. This is what the under-body toolbox looks like in a typical application. This box isn't really designed for a specific make or model truck or even trailer for that matter. This is basically used in a lot of custom installs, pretty much like what we have here. First off, let's go ahead and cover the dimensions on it. Overall length will be about 48". Our height is going to be about 18".
Depth going in towards the inside is going to be 18". As you can see, it has a black powder-coat finish to it to help protect the 12-gauge steel that it's constructed from. Let's go ahead and check out he chrome-plated latch right here. Here's our lock and here's our handle. To operate the handle, pull up on it and twist and it opens up. We'll go ahead and open it up and take a look at the inside. You can see that on the door, it has an enclosure to protect the lock and all the connecting rods.
Chances are we're probably going to drag stuff in and out, and this will be protected. Also, it does come with 2 keys for the lock as well. One neat little feature about this is that it actually has a door seal that goes all the way around. It will keep most of the dirt, debris, water, and dust out of it when you're going down your road. We don't expect it to be waterproof considering the fact that you have to drill into it to mount it to whatever you're going to use it on. This will definitely keep down on anything getting in through the door. Like we stated before, this is designed to be a custom install, depending on your truck or trailer that you use it on.
However, if you have a vertical flat surface you can mount your box up against, you can also use part number DZDB-2502. These brackets do have the powder-coat finish as the toolbox, and basically, it's a simple angle iron design with a gusset right here. What's nice is that you can mount one side of the angle to a flat vertical surface, your box can install right here and bolt it to the bottom if you'd like or however you would like to install it. To give you an idea, let's go ahead and hold it up to our toolbox. In this case, I have suspension in the way, so I'd hang the box from the top, but if you had a nice surface to bolt against, you could just have this pre-installed, and then, you would just slide your box into place and then bolt it down as you'd like. A couple other notes. This the lengths on the angle is going to 18" x 18".
They do suggest four 3/8" bolts to hold your box in place. You do have to come up with your own hardware for your install. Since this is a custom install and it will vary from truck to truck, we'll go ahead and show you some ideas on how to put it in place and also how we attached ours. First off, you want to find a location for your box, and then with an extra set of hands, put it in a place that you like. Then, you can also use a jack like we have here with a piece of wood underneath to help push it up against the bottom of your truck or trailer. That will hold it in place. Make sure you have it tight enough or hold it but still maybe just loose enough where you can scoot it around just a little bit. Once we had it in place, we went ahead and opened the door and used some self-tapping screws to temporarily attach it and hold it to keep it from moving around as we drilled our holes. Let's go ahead and take a look inside. Here's one of our self-tapping screws. We used a screw that used 3/8" nut driver on it. It's substantial enough to keep it from moving around. We used one on each side of the box going up into existing crossmembers in the bed of our truck. After we had it secured and still supported, we went ahead and marked and drilled our holes for our larger hardware. The hardware use is basically overkill for this, but it worked out just fine. What we did was we ended using 7/16" hardware, and basically, you want to make sure the force is spread apart onto our box as much as possible. We had access to some large blocks to do that with but also some large flat fender washers probably would work too. Basically, the more surface area you can cover, the better off you are. We ended up using 6 attaching points just like this. With that, that will finish it for our review of part number DZDB-2602, the DZ Specialty Series Under-body Toolbox in steel. .

Very very well built. Excellent fit and finish. I needed a trailer toolbox with these particular dimensions so I bought this underbody box, but I mounted it like a chest (door facing straight up) and it has met my needs perfectly. We don't get a lot of rain in NM so water getting into the chest through the recessed handle area isn't a concern with it mounted in this orientation...plus the trailer is stored inside most of the time.
I use this on my custom teardrop trailer and I really like this tongue box.
One year later, this is holding up well. The only thing is that the lock hinge started to show a little rust almost right away, but it hasn't progressed too much. It was a little disappointing though.
That said, I love that this has a padlock instead of having to use yet-another small key (I already have 3 just for my teardrop). It wasn't something I considered originally but figured out as soon as I put my combo lock on it.
I do really like this tongue box. It was the perfect addition to my teardrop build.
Boxes arrived in 3-4 days. I got used ones and was very happy I didn’t pay the full price. They work fine just a few dinges. I painted the inside white to see tools easier. The boxes are aluminum, seems very light duty. I wouldn’t step on top of it. When you close the top, the sides flex when pressure is put on the latch. I would have preferred a heavy steel, but needed a small box for the location and this was the only one I could find. For an ATV it might work ok. Overall pretty happy- I just installed so we’ll see how they hold up over time. Next time I would look for a heavy steel one. I paid for 2 used ones the price of one new... to me a new one would not be worth the price they are asking... just too light duty.
I luv this thing... I use the fuel tank all the time.. the large capacity is awesome.. the toolbox is fantastic for capacity n the ease to reach.. U will not find a better combo on market today!
The DeeZee tongue box has been an ok box for storing all my off-road gear for my RZR and trailer items. Haven't had any water leaks or problems. Latch and lock have worked correctly. I mounted it on the tongue of my Aluma utility trailer that I use to haul my RZR. Most of the gear I have stored in it is pretty light weight. This box seems to be lite weight constructed; not sure how it would do for heavy items. One year using it and it still works and looks good on my trailer. Well made box. Mounting hardware is woefully in adequate
Packaging is minimal and caused a slight dent.
First, I like it a lot. There is lots of room inside, it meets my needs and I would buy it again because I think it is a very good value! Cons, Steel latch which means 3 months outside and it is already rusting. (I will eventually replace with a marine grade.) The unit is very strong on the outer sides, but not so much in the middle. I am 200 lbs and can stand on the outer sides of it, but I would not try to do so in the middle. (Note - Manufacturer does NOT recommend standing on it at all and I am not suggesting you do!) Depending on your specific trailer frame and what you intend to put in the tool box you may need to add some bottom support. You can see where I added a support bar in the front. If I was doing this mount over again, I would add a support or 2 in the middle because a couple of spare axle hubs and a bottle jack are causing it to sag significantly.
Tool boxes work great .they hold all my roofing equipment . Leaving the bed of truck for hauling supplies . An the cab of the truck for hauling the crew .thank you so much for these boxes .
i returned the brackets and fashioned my own since one size didn't fit all.
the aluminum cargo bays (one on each side) are a great addition- glad i got them they are very handy and always in use.

Fits 2 group 31 batteries with room to spare. High quality box that looks and works great. The box does not come with battery hold downs, which I prefer because I could mount the batteries any way I wanted.
Phenomenal product, great fit for my job trailer and allows the crew to stand on it if it is necessary to reach the top of the trailer from the front.
Save me a lot when I look for lowest price fuel.
Seems like a solid lightweight box. The latch and locking mechanism are solid and the hinge is reinforced which is nice. I also like that the gas strut for the lid has a sleeve so if any gear shifts it won't interfere or damage the strut.
Product does excatly what I want it to do Houses my propane Tanks and Battery with room to spare. Hopfully they won't get stollen again...
great tool box. I actually had put in speakers. And mounted it to the rear end of my atv I will submit photos as well.
Utility box on my camper. This will be a great place to store power cord,water hoses and blocks and a lot easier to get too.

Very usable truck box at very good pric e.
The box is good quality and it fits on my atv. It has a dust and rain gasket on the lid but, it doesnt have any latches to keep the lid closed. I guess I missed that in the description because it doesn't say there are latches, it just says its lockable. If it had a latch it would get 5 stars.
