Whereas belt-driven fans use up power from the engine to turn, electric fans do not, thus removing any unnecessary load and increasing both fuel economy and horsepower. In addition, you do not have to worry about an electric fan's slowing down at low RPM, as many belt-driven fans do, so you are guaranteed sufficient airflow regardless of the vehicle speed.

While this assembly is intended for primary cooling and should, therefore, provide enough CFM to replace your vehicle's factory fan, you will still need to determine the CFM requirements for your engine before making your purchase. And remember, engines that have been modified or vehicles often used for towing may require additional CFM. There is no limit to the number of fans you can install, as long they all fit appropriately and are mounted on the same side of your radiator so that they do not cancel each other out.

Two types of turn-on sources are available for this fan. The Derale Lighted On/Off Switch for Electric Fans (D16740) allows for manual control of your fan so that you can choose when to turn it on and off. Thermostatic controls, on the other hand, send a signal to the fan, directing it to shut off when fluid temperatures reach an appropriate level, thus saving power. Once the temperature climbs again and additional cooling is needed, the fan is automatically turned back on. Thermostat switches can be single-stage with pre-set temperatures - D16735, D16738, D16739, D16720 and D16721 - or adjustable - D16778 and D16779.

The brackets that come with the fan are designed to attach directly to the radiator, so you will need to make sure there is space enough for the fan. • Electric Fan That Could Fit 1999 Ford F-250 with 5.4 Liter Engine
Yes the Derale electric fan part # D16919 that you referenced does fit your 1999 Ford F-250 with a 5.4 liter engine. Shrouds do make a noticeable difference as they force the air to come through the radiator instead of also allowing air to move through the blades that is to sides of fan. So you get all of the CFM moved through the radiator as opposed to a diminished amount. We do not offer shrouds separately at this time.

  • Options for a 17 inch Pusher Electric Radiator Fan
Derale 17 inch electric fans # D16217 and # D18217 can be used as pusher or puller fans. They can be mounted on either side of the radiator, as a pusher or puller, without having to flip blades or switch motor leads. This isn't a 17 inch version pusher that has the shroud. I have also included a link to our help article on electric radiator fans for you.

  • Electric Radiator Fan Recommendations for a 2008 Chrysler Aspen with 5.7L Engine
Is the fan set up currently on your 2008 Chrysler Aspen belt driven? In any event you will need to determine if it is pushing air or pulling air. The fans that you have referenced, # D16927, and # D16919 are for puller applications only. What I recommend is going with the most CFM that you can in a fan or fans that will fit in the space provided. You do not always have to remove the factory set up in order to install an electric fan. You just have to make sure that the aftermarket fan is...

  • 17 Inch Radiator Fan That Can be Used as Pusher
Although the Derale 17" High-Output, Electric Radiator Fan-and-Shroud Assembly - 2,400 CFM # D16919 is only designed to work as a puller application (behind the radiator) we do have an option for you. The Derale 17" High-Output, Electric, Single Radiator Fan - 2,400 CFM # D16217 will work great as a puller or a pusher application (in front of the radiator) like you were wanting. It is worth mentioning that typically fans do work more efficiently as a puller than a pusher. I have added...
