The fan is nice, the brass compression barbed fittings did not work. They leaked from both threads. I paid for fancy with a quickness 2 day shipping, took 5 days. I’m just glad I wasn’t too much in a hurry to cool my dads transmission for his road trip.

Everything was included to install the cooler and instruction sheet is useful. Hardest issue is where to mount. No leaks so far. Should help trans temps while towing.

  • Should the Factory Transmission Cooler be Removed When Installing an Auxiliary Cooler
The aftermarket transmission coolers that we sell are designed to work with a factory installed unit. These coolers are not intended to replace the original factory cooler. For your vehicle, adding just an addition cooler will help cool down your transmission. The stacked-plate transmission cooler design, like # D13401, is the I recommend for your 2008 Ford F-150. The stacked-plate design will give you the most efficient cooling option for your set up. This cooler also only measures 2...

  • Wiring Derale Atomic-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler Kit D15950 for Pusher Application
To reverse the polarity and airflow direction of the Derale Atomic Cool transmission cooler # D15950 from a puller to a pusher installation you will need only reverse the two wires to the fan motor. This process is covered in the instructions for fan part # D16508 which are linked for you. Do note that puller applications will usually be much more efficient since they allow the fan motor to work in the same direction as the passive airflow. But my contact at Derale did confirm that nothing...

  • Will the Derale Atomic-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler # D15950 Replace Existing Derale Cooler
You can certainly replace your existing Derale transmission cooler with the Derale Atomic-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler, # D15950. This cooler comes with all of the necessary installation hardware and it comes with 10 ft of OEM spec hose, thread-on inlets, and compression fittings. If you already have rubber hoses running from your transmission lines to your existing cooler, then you can either replace your hose with the new hose or connect your current hoses to the new cooler.

  • Transmission Cooler Fit for a 1999 Ford Super Duty Towing a 36 ft Toy Hauler
When it comes to transmission coolers you will want to choose the largest and most efficient cooler that you have room for in your engine compartment. As long as you have room to install a Derale Atomic-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler, then it will work with your truck. These would be very good coolers for your application because they are high efficiency coolers with 500-CFM tornado fans. You will want to choose the correct transmission cooler for your vehicle based on the size of your...

  • Transmission Cooler for 2016 Honda Pilot
It is pretty common for aftermarket products such as transmission coolers to deliver performance that is superior to that of OEM components. Transmission coolers vary in their efficiency/cooling power and are given Class Ratings to indicate their effectiveness. Small is okay but bigger is definitely better when it comes to coolers. For example, a small cooler like the Derale # D13611 (about 11 x 4-inches) carries a Class I rating while the much larger # D13503 (11 x 8-3/4-inches) is rated...

  • What Size Fuse Is Needed for the Derale Atomic-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler Kit D15950
I spoke with Derale about the Derale Atomic-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler Kit part # D15950 and they stated that the unit does not require a separate fuse. The circuit protection will come from the switched ignition source so no additional fuses will be needed. I personally would try to find a 20 amp rated switched ignition source for this.

  • Will Derale Transmission Cooler Decrease Air Flow To Radiator on 2006 Ford Escape V6
Air will still pass through the transmission cooler and reach the radiator, but the temperature effect on the cooling system will be minimal if at all. Since the Derale Atomic-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler Kit, # D15950, has a built-in fan, it does not have to be mounted in front of the radiator. The fan will provide sufficient airflow to cool the transmission fluid anywhere the cooler is located. As you may know, the most efficient place to mount the transmission cooler is behind the...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2005 Ford F-150 For Offroad and Slow Traffic
For a stacked plate cooler that would work great on your 2005 Ford F-150 check out the Derale Stacked-Plate Transmission Cooler Kit # D13402. However, you did say you will be offroad and in slow traffic so a cooler with a fan built into it might be your best option. For that the part # D15950 would be ideal. In slow traffic a transmission cooler mounted at the front of a radiator won't get a lot of air flow. But with a kit that has a fan built into it the air flow will be there all the time.

  • Remote Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a Chevy Silverado 2500HD
The transmission coolers that we carry are meant as supplemental coolers anyway so they will work great for what you want to do. The path of the fluid will start at the transmission, go to the factory cooler, then to the supplemental cooler, and then back to the transmission. For a remote cooler that includes the mounting hardware you can use # D13950. I have included a link to the installation details for you. I have also included a link to our FAQ article to the right on transmission...

  • Quality and Performance of a Derale Transmission Cooler for a 1998 Dodge Ram Diesel
Currently, we carry Derale coolers but not BandM. I have not had any complaints as to the quality or performance of a Derale cooler and I think you will be happy with one on your 1998 Dodge Ram. The coolers that have a built in fan, like the Derale Atomic-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler Kit, # D15950, have the added benefit of being installed anywhere there is space. No matter where it is placed the built in fan will provide optimum airflow to cool the transmission fluid. Since transmission...

  • Can the Factory Transmission Cooler be Replaced on a 2006 Nissan Xterra
The factory transmission cooler is likely inside of the radiator on your 2006 Nissan Xterra so the only way to replace it would be to replace the radiator. You can probably find an aftermarket one for less money than an OEM replacement from Nissan. I can tell you that what they want to charge, assuming that includes parts AND labor, is not a bad price for that type of repair. Bypassing the factory cooler would be the best option if you don't want to replace the radiator. If you do that...

Supplemental coolers should be installed after the factory cooler. That way if the factory cooler is tied into the radiator it wouldn't reheat the fluid back up if the supplemental cooler was before it. I recommend the Derale Atomic-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler Kit w/ Fan, -8 AN Inlets - Class V # D15950 for your application. This is a highly efficient, plate-fin cooler with minimal pressure drop. It offers superior airflow with 500-CFM tornado fan. It comes with aluminum brackets for...

  • Transmission Cooler Mounting and Routing Recommendations for a 1999 Chevy Suburban 1/2 ton
I would recommend that you run both your factory transmission cooler and this Derale Transmission Cooler, part # D13504. I would run the output line from the factory cooler to the input of the # D13504 and then the output back to the transmission. If you route the coolers in that order you will optimize the cooling efficiency of the coolers. Most likely the motor of your 1999 Chevy Suburban would not run any hotter, but if it did you could experiment with different cooler locations till...

  • Will A Transmission Cooler Reduce Airflow To My Radiator?
Placing an aftermarket cooler such as the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler part # D13503 in front of your radiator or A/C condenser will minimize the effectiveness of both units however, the amount to which the aftermarket cooler will decrease the functionality of these units is very minimal. Air will still pass through the aftermarket cooler and reach the condenser and radiator thus allowing for an effective operating temperature. In fact, the recommended location to install...

  • Can You Bypass The Factory Transmission Cooler on a 2011 Chevy Silverado
There is always a chance of the transmission lines leaking into the radiator creating disaster on any vehicle that uses this method for cooling the vehicle's transmission fluid. I would not bypass the radiator when installing a new transmission cooler. Our transmission coolers are supplemental, meaning they are designed to aid the factory cooling system. Almost every vehicle nowadays has the transmission lines ran through the radiator for cooling and the chance of them leaking into the...

  • Installation of Oil and Transmission Coolers on 2000 Ford F-250 with 5.4L V8 Engine
Most oil and transmission coolers like the Derale Atomic-Cool # D15950 are not vehicle specific so you can install as large (and efficient) a cooler as you have the space to install it. An exception is the pan-type of transmission cooler like the Derale # D14208 which is designed specifically for vehicles with an E4OD, 4R100, 5R100, or 5R100W transmission. Coolers are also NOT fluid-specific to either oil or transmission fluid - they can be used in either application. If you intend to...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendations for a 2008 Ford F-150
Adding fans like # D16105 will optimize the cooling efficiency of the factory cooler but you are not likely to see additional benefits if traveling at highway speeds. The benefits will come with the vehicle moving slowly are stopped. What I recommend is adding a supplemental remote cooler with its own fan, like # D12733 or a kit like # D15950. The benefit is that you can mount this type of cooler where you have space and you will receive the optimum amount of cooling.

On your 1996 C1500 Suburban, you can use an additional cooler in addition to a factory cooler without any noticable decrease in pressure.
