Michael: Hi there I'm Michael with etrailer.com today we're going to take a quick look at the Cameco Olympian wave three catalytic safety heater for small RVs. This is going to act as a primary or a secondary heating source in your small RVs. When I say small, I'm really talking about RVs that are about up to 12 feet long. This does have a room heating capacity of about 130 square feet. Our knobs on the side here are going to allow us to switch between low and high. We can go from 1,600 BTUs up to 3,000 BTUs because this is a low pressure LP gas operation, we're not going to have to hook up to our battery and it's not going to drain our electrical system at all. It is going to work completely off of propane. This only consumes about an eighth of a pound of propane per hour, so it is about 96% efficient.

It's going to allow us to sustain our heat for much longer. It can be used either mounted onto your wall for permanent use or in the portable position. If you're wanting to mount it on the wall all the hardware does come with this kit, your screws here. Then it also is going to come with a template to help you get it mounted onto your wall. Very easy to do.

Once you have those screws mounted in place on your wall, you simply line them up with the holes in the back side there. If you want to use it as a portable unit, there are legs available. They do not come with this unit, but you can find them here at etrailer.com. These will simply mount to the bottom of the unit and allow you to stand it upright and take it along with you wherever you're wanting to go. As long as you have an LP fuel source. The shut off valve in the unit is going to help prevent any accidental non ignition fuel discharges so that we're not going to have to worry about gas leaks anything like that. It is important to note that this is a combustion unit.

So it is going to consume oxygen in the room so you should always ensure that you have an adequate fresh air supply to make sure that the combustion is taking place correctly and that you are going to have enough oxygen in the air for yourself. We want to give you a few measurements to ensure that this is going to work for your setup. Our total overall width, right about 10 and three quarters of an inch wide, by right at 12 inches tall, and our depth for the unit itself is about three and seven eighths, just shy of four inches deep. This does come with a three year warranty from Cameco and the unit is only about six pounds so it's going to be pretty easy to lift up and carry it if you do decide to use that portable option. If you mount it, they do recommend making sure that no dust and things get in there. Keep a cover on it when it's not in use. They do sell a cover.

You can find it here at etrailer.com using the part number on the screen there. It simply slides over the unit. Make sure that all the dust and everything stays out so you won't have to maintain it, clean it as often, just keeping all that dust out of the way. That's going to complete our look at the Cameco Olympian wave three catalysts safety heater for your small RV. I'm Michael with e trailer, thanks for watching.

This thing is the jam. Enjoyed a season of use - our family doesn't need much heat through the summer and fall camping months, but when we did, this was great way to quickly knock off the chill or add a little extra heat to our medium sized camper during the night.

by:

Started with the Wave 3. Too small for my application. 18' inside length toy hauler. Ended up buying the larger Wave 6. Couldn't return the first one after hooking it up and trying it. Get a larger size than what Camco's application chart recommends.
Pros: No battery drain. Works OK.
Cons: Less heat than expected. No thermostat, so it's either "on" or "off". Set off the smoke detectors first 3-4 times of use.
I mounted the Wave 6 to a TV articulated mount so I could point the heat where I needed it and stow it out of the way when not in use. I made my own custom cover out of vinyl to fit around the mount.

What I suspected. Good quality and worth it. I tried a Buddy heater and not worth it. If you like to carry bottles that may work for you but this one I connected directly to my tank (T off my regulator). Put an on-off valve in line and mounted it on a cupboard door in my little camper. Nice.

by:

Works great for a truck camper.

by:

Heater functiond perfect but does not supply enough heat to heat my conversion van. Never had a problem with the heater I just need more heat. Heater is very safe to use.

by:

Have not yet installed, nor used my new heater. I have however used these extensively in the past and have confidence this one will work as well. They are great for heating an rv. We had to remove a furnace from our older motor home as there were no parts for it and no newer furnace would fit so decided on the olympian Wave 3, it's going to fit perfect.

by:

Perfect for heat in the garage.

by:

I didn't know much about etrailer.com before I ordered this heater.I am very happy to say I am very happy with both.

How I installed an Olympian Wave 6 catalytic heater in a 20yr old Class C that I have been refurbishing.
Installation bits:
1x12x48 pine board (base for heater)
4 #8 2" wood screws (board mounting)
4 1/2" nylon stand offs (board mounting)
4 #8 1" wood screws (heater hangers)
4 conical hot water faucet washers (htr hngr)
3/8" brass T fitting (splice for propane input)
3/8" pipe thread to flare elbow (for T outlet)
6' 3/8" propane hose female flare both ends
3/8" male to female flare elbow (to heater)
1/2" Teflon thread tape for propane
1" diameter desk grommet for hose

Cut pine board to size 1x12x17". Use supplied template to mark Wave 6 mounting locations. Stain board black. Install 1" screws and conical washers to board. (The washers make heater removal and reinstall much smoother.) Remove vent cover in front of furnace opening. Drill holes for mounting board in front of furnace opening. Drill 1" hole for propane hose access to the heater. Verify propane tank valve is closed. Apply Teflon tape to all male threads. Remove a 1" section from the 3/8" propane supply line to the furnace. Attach one end of the hose to the T fitting. Attach the compression T fitting to the propane supply line. Route the hose through the drilled hole and slip on the grommet. Reinstall the furnace area vent. Install the mounting board. Install the flare elbow onto the heater's input. Hang the heater. Verify the heater control knob is in the "start/off" position. Attach the propane hose to the flare elbow. Open the propane tank valve. Verify that there are no propane leaks. Test heater operation. Verify that the furnace operates as well as always. Now when boondocking, we have warmth without 12v power consumption.

I used it with previous trailer for better sleeping because of the noise difference between trailer heater and the Wave 6. I used a Coleman Gemini power pack with a Camco regulator for propane. My current trailer has a heater that makes very little noise and does not interfere with my sleep so I no longer use the Wave 6.

by:

We have enjoyed the heater as it doesn’t drain the batteries while using it. The heater keeps our 28ft airstream warm, but if the temperature drops below 40 degrees F. Outside, we use the rv heater and the Olympian Wave 8 together. By using them both at once it allows the rv heater to kick on less as the Olympian wave heater will maintain the heat inside the airstream longer. Yes I would recommend this heater and I would also recommend buying from Etrailer, great customer service.

ican`t done the servy i did recive my heater i dont no where my heater.

by:

My heater arrived in good shape. I had a professional install it, and it is working perfectly. Love it and saves lots of propane!

by:

I haven't installed the heater as of yet but I did hook it up to the tank and it did a good job heating up the space intended for.

by:

I told etrailer that this heater was not going to be mounted and was not told I had to buy the feet to make free standing. now I have to wait for the feet to be shiped to me. THAT IS STUPID

by:

So I haven't hooked up my heater and teasted it yet, but this is how it came. I can't believe I spend almost $[XX] and this is how it comes. I didn't one star because the styrofoam in the manufacturer's box (although barely together by the time I got it) seems to have held it together
