Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. To locate this harness, you will have to remove the rear scuff panel in your trunk and pull back some of the trunk liner. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your trunk.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.
Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.
Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

Today we're going to review part number C56205. This is the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector. This is a custom fit part, it is designed to fit the Nissan Sentra vehicles starting in 2013. Now, on any custom fit part, what I always recommend is to go to our website. Use our fit guide, put your year, model, vehicle in there and it'll tell you if this will work for your application. Now, this part will provide this 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer signal lights.
It does connect very quickly and easily. Basically, you just locate your connection points which are in the rear cargo area behind the tail lights. Plug in these t-connectors, one for each side. Ground your white wire, and then run your hot lead to your vehicle's battery and you'd be all ready to go. Now, this does include this tail light converter, this black box right here. This is to ensure that your vehicles wiring will match that of your trailer.
It is a powered module converter, and it connects directly to the battery using the black wire right here. The reason they do that is to avoid overloading your vehicle's electrical system. The converter itself is constructed using a surface mount technology which is SMT technology. It gives you a consistent reliable performance, helps maximize your trailer light yield and intensity while producing minimal heat. It will also ensure of superior operation and in rough road conditions.
Also, it comes with this nice dust cap for the 4-way. Basically what you can do is just attach this dust cap to the plug, and you can leave it on there if you like and then when you're not plugged in to your trailer just put your dust cap over the terminals. It helps protect those terminals from any of the elements or from any damage. Now, a few specs on it, the maximum amperage on the stop and turn light circuits is 3 amps per circuit. On the tail light circuit is 6 amps. Now, this part comes with everything showing here on the table, I'm going to show you in a minute how they all connect.
Start with this nice set of this detailed instructions that will actually describe how to install it and it even give you pictures to help you install it. Basically what you'll do is go to the rear of the vehicle and get access in the rear cargo area to the behind the tail lights of the vehicle. Then you want to start on the driver's side and you'll take this t-connector right here, it has the yellow wire in it, and the white wire. Basically what you'll do is go behind the tail light in the driver side, unplug the wiring harness and then plug this between the harness in the tail light. Then your white wire that's in here, it has an eyelet on it, that needs to connect to a good clean ground. If there's one nearby you can use it, if not they include this grounding screw that you can drill a hole and make your own ground. Then what you want to do is take this other t-connector that has this long length of green wire. That's for the passenger side, so you'll run this all the way over to the passenger side. Do the same thing, plug this in behind the tail light. Then the converter, what you want to do is this black box needs to be attached so it doesn't bounce around. What you want to do is find a good flat surface, they'd give you some double sided tape you can put on there to help it here. If also if you'd like to, they do give you some extra cable ties that can help secure that converter box down. Then your last connection would be this black wire, and again this is the power wire that goes to the battery on your vehicle. What you want to do with this is they give you this extra length of wire, take one of your included butt connectors, put it on the power wire. Then put the connected to one end of this length of wire and then run this length of wire, all the way up to the front of your vehicle. Now, they do give you some extra cable ties if you need to take up any slack in this wiring. Once you get the other end up to where the battery is, you don't want to connect this to the battery yet, you want to run it through this inline fuse holder to protect it. You'll take the other butt connector, put it on there, take one side of the inline fuse holder and connect it to that wire. Then what you want to do is you have this other side of the wire on the inline fuse holder that'll connect to the positive post to your batteries. Take your eyelet connector that's included, attach it and then connect that to your positive post to your battery. Then the last thing that you want to do is open up your fuse holder, take your included 10 amp fuse. Go ahead and put it in the fuse holder just like that, put the cap back on. Then you'd be all ready to go, just go to the rear of the vehicle. Extend out the 16-gauge bonded wire that the 4-way's attached to. Connect it through your trailer, and it'll supply the lights on your trailer. That should do it for the review on part number C56205. This is the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector.

Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom harness. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring. Powered converter reduces strain on wiring system and is made using SMT to ensure superior performance. After receiving missing fuse holder, all went well.
This harness was easy to install and functions well! I bought it to use with a hitch that I installed on our Nissan Sentra. This is the second Curt harness that I have purchased from etrailer and both have worked great!
Super easy to install except for the run to the battery. I cheated and paid $50 to have the local trailer shop do it for me. Everything else just plugged in perfectly.
Difficult install for the DIY'er without a lift. Passenger side attachments nearly impossible. Tow hook attachment doesnt fit properly. Otehr than that, looks well made.
Purchased this item to go with a class one hitch I installed on a 2016 Nissan Sentra. Instructions are not the greatest but you can get information online to help , once installed everything worked great and was all neatly tucked away.
Installed just like instructions, find a good route for wire and thare U go
Everything fit quite nicely. Had to grind the Flat metal pieces down to fit, but no problem there. Wiring went in perfectly and it was just the right length. Very happy with everything so far.
Perfect product for my vehicle. good price, quick delivery, and a 1 hour install.
That was one of the most dreaded jobs! But with this harnes from you it was a snap. Took less than and hour and it was done! Thanks!
Very fast considering it's Christmas time I was very happy with the service
Every thing was exactly what I ordered and it was delivered on time. Thank you
