  • Provides a 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights
    • Compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole and 7-pole adapters (sold separately)
  • Connects quickly and easily - no cutting or splicing of wires
    • Locate connection points behind rear bumper

Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the rear bumper, along the driver's-side frame rail.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

1996 Ford F-150

Bought a 1996 ford f150 5.8 l, tows great but the old wiring harness near the receiver hitch kept blowing my truck back up lights each time I hooked up my seven pin trailer connection. I finally decided to buy this new unit to replace the old one. Great choice. No more blown back up lights on the pickup. I can now take both into town for the annual inspection and pass with flying colors. Money well invested.

Perfect. It fixed the problem with the prior wiring job by the previous owner. I no longer lose my back up lights each time I use the trailer with my Ford F150.

A snap (literally) to install. Found the OEM lighting plug by the right side rear bumper. Disconnected the plug and plugged the trailer wiring harness between them. Hooked the trailer and everything worked

Doesnt get a lot of use but still works great.

Plugs right in!

loved the hitch, it fit perfectly. However, I never received my trailer electrical connector. The box was pretty mangled when it got to me, so I’m pretty sure the connector fell out in transit. Not happy about that. Hopefully I will be able to get a refund, as I had to get one locally and splice it in to make it fit.

1992 Ford F-150

I purchased an older 92f150 and the trailer wiring harness that was on the truck was broke and did not work, i attempted to re-wire it but still no luck, i jumped online to e-trailer and sure enough they had this harness that you just plug in and good to go, bought it and sure enough it just plugs tight in to the tailight harness and i was done, easy and i have purchased items before from e-trailer, These guys are fantastic at customer service, i will buy from them until i die lol

by:

Still works great 3? years in.

by:

Excellent construction, good heavy wire used.

My only criticism is that they used white wires instead of matching the factory colors. Not a major problem when just plugging in and using, but I am going to separate mine and use as a replacement plug for my truck bed.

This is the cheapest source of both male/female connectors I could find.

  • Does Curt 4-Way For 1997 F-350 Need to be Unplugged For Taillights to Work When Not Towing
It does not; the taillights will continue to work on your 1997 Ford F-350 - even when you aren't towing - after installing the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C55316.

  • Availability of 4-Way Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation for 1997 Ford Super Duty Van
It sounds like you are looking for a 4-way like the Curt part # C55316 which is a confirmed fit for your 1997 Ford Super Duty and has the style of connector you mentioned. Round connector but pins arranged in a square-like pattern. Check out the picture I attached for more info. If this is not what you need send me a picture of what you have and I'll take a look.

  • How to Convert a 4-way to a 5-way and Make it Functional
The 4-way of the # C55316 that you referenced will plug into a 5-way like what you have on your trailer, but if you need the fifth circuit for like a reverse lock out solenoid you would also need the adapter # 20036. This product will let you run the fifth circuit anywhere you need. For a reverse lockout it would get run to the reverse light circuit. Check out the install video I attached for more info.

  • How to Add a 7-Way and 4-Way Connector to a 1994 Ford F-250 or F-350
The wiring is great! To add a 7-way and a 4-way connector to your 1994 Ford F-250 or F-350 you will need two separate wiring harnesses. The first is the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness item # C55316 you were looking at. This custom fit wiring harness is a plug and play style of adapter. This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your Ford's wiring harness, which is located behind the rear bumper, along the driver's-side frame rail. You won't have to cut or splice into any wires. This...

  • Class III Hitch Receiver Recommendation for 1987 Ford F-150 with 37-1/4 Inch Frame
I do have a Class III hitch that fits your 1987 Ford F-150 with a 37-1/4 inch frame, however, it's not a Curt. Take a look at the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver Class III # 75038. This hitch receiver has a towing capacity of 5,000 lbs and a tongue weight rating of 500 lbs, which is more in line with the towing capacity of your F-150. It also features a concealed crosstube design, just like the Curt # 14001. That being said, Draw-Tite hitches are not manufactured in the USA. If...

  • 4-Way Trailer Wiring Recommendation for 1991 Ford F-150
The easy way to install a 4-way trailer wiring harness on your 1991 Ford F-150 is with the part # C55316 which will plug in line with your taillight wiring harness. Otherwise you'd have to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to test the wires of your taillight harness and wire them accordingly to the 4-way. The 4-way wiring colors are: White is ground, yellow is left turn/stop, green is right turn/stop, and brown is running light.

  • Replacement 7-Way Socket for 1997 Ford F-350 That Has Two Separate Vehicle Connectors
Thank you for providing a photo of the wiring harness you need for your 1997 Ford F-350 heavy-duty diesel truck. These two plugs are a different configuration than the plugs on the 4-pole harnesses we offer, such as Curt # C55316 and Tow Ready # 118316. The 7-pole harness with the two-plugs on the vehicle side is not available as an aftermarket item; you will need to visit your Ford dealer for an OEM replacement. For reference I have linked a page showing all accessory items for your truck.

Most likely the Ford Flareside has a standard step bumper. For the standard bumper, I recommend Curt Class V receiver part # C15300.
