Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver For Deep Drop Bumper On 1990 Ford F250 XLT Lariat

Question:

I have tried to measure underneath my grandpas truck but cant get a good reading because of the spare tire. I think that i have gotten 36.5 inches but dont know if it is correct. His birthday is coming so i dont want to ask for the pad lock key so he doesnt know whats up. Would this set up fit my grandpas 1990 ford f250 XLT lariat 7.3 IDI Diesel? He has the same bumper as the picture attached.

The B&W Heavy-Duty Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V - 2" # BWHDRH25198. This is a heavy duty hitch that measures 7-3/8 inches from the frame to the top of the receiver. As long has his deep drop bumper fits with the 7-3/8 inch from frame to top of the receiver measurement, this hitch is confirmed to fit his 1990 Ford F-250 XLT Lariat Diesel. The spare tire may need to be repositioned or modified for this hitch.

If you don't want to worry about repositioning the spare, I recommend the Curt 3-Piece Trailer Hitch Receiver - Multi Fit - Class V - 2" # C15511. It has a measurement of 8-1/32 inches from the frame to the top of the receiver tube. This hitch is designed to allow fits for both 34 and 37-1/2 inch frames.

If you need trailer wiring, I recommend the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C55316. This plugs into factory wiring located behind the rear bumper along the driver's side frame rail.

With a nice chrome bumper, you may be interested in the B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 5" Drop, 5-1/2" Rise - 10K - Chrome # BWTS10037C which will allow towing level. It also has the 2 inch and 2-5/16 inch hitch ball options to match your trailer coupler. It has a really nice stowable feature for a clean look when not in use that many people really like. I recommend using a lock like the Blue Ox Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches - Flush - 2-3/4" Span - Chrome # BX8858 to protect your investment.
