After struggling with the answering menu, Steve Z. was instrumental in locating a hitch to fit my van which was not specifically identified in any data search. Weird year, 2005, of popular Chevy Express van, my luck! Using manufacturers dimensions I purchased #31016 on 12/21 and it arrived on 12/24.
It's a very well built, USA built, unit. It arrived rapidly, but was missing half of the mounting hardware. The remainder of the hardware was rolling around in the box. Zip lock baggie ripped apart spilling them.
I used a hydraulic jack to elevate hitch into place, and an additional jack to push the drill up to drill the 6 mounting holes necessary. No factory hole alignment. All the nuts for the bolts were lost in transit, but by a Christmas day miracle, I found 2 metric nuts to fit supplied bolts that survived the delivery. I will acquire, and install remaining missing 4 tomorrow.
The installation went smooth and easy using this technique. It took around 3 hours with much of the time searching for hardware.'
Thanks Steve Z. and etrailer.

The product works great. However, I was told that this front hitch receiver would bolt to existing holes on my 98 Four winds RV. That was not true, so installation was double the cost of what was estimated by the shop I took it to.

I don't know if I ordered the wrong item but this one doesn't fit my Ford f150. It's for a Chevy or gmc.

This hitch is a fit for Chevy Express Vans and GMC Savanas. The hitch that you want for the 2012 Ford 150 would be part # C31068.

2000 Chevrolet Express Van

Great products and company. This is my second hitch I've installed from them. The first one went on without a problem but this one had a few minor issues. The handle holding the nut was too wide to slide through the frame hole (file off a little) and the new bolts didn't fit (just used the original ones). My biggest issue was doing the job alone, a second hand would has made the install mush easier.

Works great, e trailer is awesome!

2000 Chevrolet Express Van

I purchased this for a 2000 Chevrolet Express van. I ran into van problems it seems. One hole wasn't drilled... and when I went to the other side to bolt on the old sway bar brackets were in a different place and smaller size. I've never ran into anything like that. But I got it done. The Curt Hitch Receiver Itself was fine. and now it's tight like it should be to the frame. Great service and shipping with the order process.

I must say Ive had no issues with the hitch once I got it installed. I had to drill two holes in the frame to locate them properly. I also had to modify one side of the sway bar brackets. Its still bolted goo good and tight. I use it to back up trailers in tight places and carry bikes on the front of the van. I have another Curt hitch in the back for a larger cargo carrier with the basket sides for carry other gear camping. works out nicely .

2008 Chevrolet Express Van

Excellent quality, I just purchased the wrong one and waited too long and past the return date. My fault, not theirs. 5 stars because it's solid, shipped fast, package great with all the hardware.

by:

I originally ordered the Draw-Tite version of this hitch because the reviews were better. It was backordered several weeks so I decided to buy the Curt. From the start it was a mess. I should have listened to some of the other reviews and steered clear of this one. The holes do not align with the frame of the vehicle. I had to widen the 4 holes for the M10 bolts with a dremel and a grinding stone. It took an hour. Also, I'm not confident that the supplied hardware can reliably meet the the torque specs in the installation guide.

I would almost recommend buying your own hardware for this install. I would definitely recommend buying the Draw-Tite version of this hitch over the Curt!

Thank you for your review! It sounds like you may have experienced a situation where your mounting brackets were flexed during shipping. This is somewhat common because those mounting brackets are made with a mild steel so as long as there are no cracks or chipped paint you should be good to go as far as the quality goes for the hitch. Here is a link to our helpful article about a hitch being flexed just for reference.

Chevrolet

Bought this hitch for a Chevy Roadtrek RV because there was no place to pull / wench the camper from the frontend, due to all the plastic faring. Had to cut the air dam for receiver access. This took two people to hold the hitch up and mark the faring, I cut 2 inches too low, but saved the piece and filled in the hole with it. We plan to also haul our bikes on the front when hauling the motorcycle on the back. The hitch went on fairly easily with only one nut not fitting through the frame hole. One ear was bent from shipping and I had to use the hydraulic press to bend it back. Otherwise the installation went as indicated in the instructions.

by:

Had a mechanic install the hitch and he did so without any problems. He cut a hole in the airdam below the bumper with a little space to view the hole for the pin to be inserted. The hitch now allows two locations to place chains in the event I would require a tow.

by:

Opened the box, removed hitch from packaging, removed bolts from stabilizer bar, jacked hitch into place and put bolts back in place. Required one extra hole to be drilled just as the instructions explained. About 20 minutes to installed. Very easy. We were pleased.

by:
2001 Chevrolet Express Van

Well constructed but the holes were a good 3/8" off. Using my tractor, chains, a come-along and a hydraulic jack, I was able to align the holes. If you don't want to waste a perfectly good day on what should be a one hour job, stay away from this.

2001 Chevrolet Express Van

Great hitch receiver. Easy to install. Clear instructions. Everything needed was in the box. It is one heavy duty well made item. Thanks etrailer for the fast delivery.
