Didn't want to make the review until I thoroughly tested it out and I can say after 1,600 miles hauling my motorcycle behind my Focus ST without a problem definitely made me trust this hitch receiver! Quality setup and was easy to install!

by:

Very good product. Installation is a bit of a project, but not too bad. I did add spacers of 1/8" Al stock matching the bolt pattern as another reviewer suggested to make lower the hitch to avoid bumper a little better, and another set to lower exhaust hangers a bit to clear my AWE exhaust tips. Worked like a charm. Running the power cable for the wiring to the battery was probably harder to do (without a lift). For the Focus ST, you want a drawbar like #36061 if you have big exhaust tips.

by:

So I installed this and immediately drove across country with a 2,000 lb trailer. Worked great with no issues. I would recommend using a dremel to cut some of the holes wider on install. It's now been over a year and the hitch is still on there.

by:

High quality. I love how invisible it is. Installation is basically impossible by yourself so find a friend to help. I’ve installed a few receivers in my day and this was the hardest one as it requires drilling and pulling the bolts/washers through the frame is not easy but doable if you’re not afraid of a challenge and have some patience. I would highly recommend for any ST owners who want to mount a bike rack.

2017 Ford Focus

I've had this hitch on 2 different Ford Focus ST. The 2017 and the 2014 model. I have made multiple trips close to 1000 miles long with a trailer and motorcycles on the back. This hitch has held up no problem and has done a fantastic job of pulling the trailer with no issues.

by:

This hitch fits pretty well given the space limitations of the center exit exhaust. The spacers move the exhaust tips down a bit but it isn't extreme and doesn't look weird. There is ample room to drill the holes. I did not grind the hole in the frame to install the rear most bolts. I took a hand file and filed off a little of the side of the bolt to get it to fit in the existing hole. It doesn't take much and shouldn't reduce the strength of the bolt. I preferred this to grinding the body. Also, having an extra set of hands is very helpful. Trying to raise the hitch up to mark for the drill holes while snaking it around the exhaust tips would be much harder working alone. Overall I am pleased with the fitment.

by:

Excellent hitch for my Focus ST. Not too hard to install and fitment is pretty good. I have the aftermarket MBRP cat-back exhaust so the tips would not fit without rattling. I had to flip them upside down because the clamping bolts were on top rattling against the hitch. Works great now. Otherwise fit and finish is great for the price.

by:
2014 Ford Focus

5 stars. everything fits perfectly, the design flows with the car and is nicely hidden. install wasn’t too bad but you’ll want a helping hand. i have a cobb exhaust for reference, the spacer gives room for everything to not touch/scrape

2018 Ford Focus

Great hitch and instructions (read carefully). The hitch is barely noticeable once installed. The included "fishing wire" is critical!

by:

Works on 2018 Focus ST with Ford Performance Exhaust. Install was easy and the hitch does not rub the rear bumper although it is very close.

by:

Great low profile hitch. EAZY to install. Almost invisible at first glance.

Its been one year since I installed this hitch. Still going strong and I have used it quite a bit from Oregon to the midwest. I've been very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone. If you're thinking about buying one don't hesitate.

by:

Got it installed the other day, very clear and easy to follow instructions. Only took me about a half an hour to get it installed!

by:
2016 Ford Focus

Haven’t installed just yet but I’m exci ted!

by:
Ford Focus

If you drive a Ford Focus ST, this is the only hitch you should consider. Is it a bit tricky to install? Sure, but just set aside 2 hours, make sure you have a good drill and fairly new set of bits as the biggest diameter drill bit will get a workout.

For this work you get a through instructions and a very discrete hitch that's perfect for bike racks or whatever you need. Would buy again.

by:

It's a great hitch. A few niggles, really close to the bumper cover, and the exhaust is lower than it could be. Curt should modify the design slightly to provide more clearance. I can live with the niggles without any issue though.
Installing the wiring actually takes longer than the hitch install, that is if one cares to make it a tidy and hidden installation of the harness.

by:

I was pretty nervous about fishing the bolts through, but I got both bolts on the first try, like magic. I took the path noted by another reviewer to file a millimeter off the bolt head being fished instead of enlarging the access hole on the car itself--that way I didn't damage the car. And if I need to replace a bolt that is much easier. It's a tight fit but looks good and I was still able to attach an adapter and a 2" bike rack very easily.

by:
2018 Ford Focus

I have been watching videos on how to install this hitch and see that the hitch comes in contact with the bottom bumper of the car. Is there any way to fix this?

Etrailer Expert

I contacted the manufacturer and Curt says they redesigned the hitch to another 1/4 of an inch so it does not rub the bumper. It should not touch the bumper with the new design. If it does touch the bumper it will be minimal and easy to flex up a bit or trim a 1/4 of an inch so that it doesnt touch.

by:

Great for what I needed it for, hides away nicely behind exhaust pipes. I did have a hard time getting certain receiver adapters to fit with the available clearance I had between the receiver and the underside of the bumper. I also ran into an issue with contact between the muffler and receiver (rattling as a result), but that was resolved with stiffer exhaust hangers and adjusting the orientation of the receiver. Overall would recommend this to anyone that is looking for a discrete yet fully functional receiver.

by:
Ford Focus

Great design and low profile to keep the sporty look of the Focus ST. The clamp bolts on MBRP exhaust tips do rub on the receiver. I’ll have to find a way to prevent that, maybe with some readjustment of the exhaust position, but otherwise this is a well-made product and seems very sturdy. Installation was also very straightforward, only difficulty was having dull drill bits when drilling the necessary holes in the frame rails!

2018 Ford Focus

Bought this rack for our 2018 Focus ST to fit a bike rack (to carry two mountain bikes). It fits just like I hoped it would! After watching a few videos about the install, I was worried about having to modify the vehicle frame to fit the larger bolt heads, but it really wasn't too difficult with a Dremel tool and a carbide bit. Great product!

by:
2015 Ford Focus

I would definitely recommend this product. It only lowered the clearance of my Ford Focus ST by a few centimeters and the hitch is barely noticeable from the rear. Now I can carry my bikes without doing harm to my vehicle. It was very easy to install and doesn't require a lot of foreknowledge. 5 stars from me!

by:

Great product, came with all the hardware and great quality

by:

I received the hitch, but there was no hardware included.

Product works great. Model number said for models up to 2016. However it fits my 2017 perfectly!

by:

Awesome. Blends right in. Not the easiest to connect hitch but doable.

Yes, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11431 is a confirmed fit for your 2018 Ford Focus ST. This hitch is actually specifically designed for the ST models and it is the only one we have that will work for you. It has a Class I rating with a 1-1/4" receiver tube opening. Please keep in mind that if you will be using the hitch for any non-towing accessoires then you will also need the Support Strap part # 18050 in order to maintain the warranty of the hitch.
