2008 Dodge Ram Pickup

I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab, 2WD, 4.7L V8, with the Big Horn Package. This is a good hitch. I didn't need this much of a hitch. I only needed a 600 lb. tongue weight hitch but I figured better safe than sorry. It was the most hitch for the money and now I don't have to change the hitch if I get a bigger camper. I will never need a hitch with this kind of capacity. The install was very easy with one exception... There was no frame drilling required, but there were two steel dowels welded to the frame that supported a tail-pipe hanger and one got in the way and had to be removed. I was hesitant to do this, but the exhaust is still remarkably stable even with one of the supports cut-off. This hitch seems like the most hitch for your money and I know that the hitch will handle more than my truck is rated for so there is no worrying if my hitch will hold up.

Fit like it should, fast shipping

I ordered this hitch for a couple of reasons. First it had to be bolted together (as opposed to one completely welded unit) in three pieces so I thought it was something a senior citizen could handle unassisted. Indeed that turned out to be the case.

Second I liked the option of being able to flip the cross bar to accommodate a factory hitch or not. Since my truck ('05 RAM 1500, Quad cab) had a factory hitch, there was some question about which to order to allow the new receiver to be as close to the bumper as possible. As it turned out, mine was the factory bolt on receiver so the "without" would have worked (I was able to unbolt it and set it aside). This one hitch fit either truck, with/without the factory hitch so I didn't have to worry about ordering the wrong one and then shipping it back.

And lastly, this is a heavy duty hitch, rated to pull about 16,000 lbs. It fit neatly under the truck and allowed the under-body spare tire to be stowed after installation. It is a snug fit but no modifications were necessary.

I do have a couple of suggestions for future DIY'ers. First don't snug any of the bolts until all the hardware is installed. I had snugged (not torqued) the wings and then realized that a trim piece had to be removed to install bolts to the side of the wings. Second, after all the hardware is installed but not tightened, return the under-body spare tire to it's position. There is a little wiggle room and now's the time to find out if it's needed before tightening and torquing the bolts.

2008 Dodge Ram Pickup

I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. I had one issue while installing...there are two exhaust support bars that welded to the frame and one is in the way of the side plate. I just cut the inside bar and the install was very simple install afterwards. There are no exhaust issues with cutting the one bar. The hitch is a little heavy so if you can get assistance, that will help but not needed.

2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Installed this on a 2007 Dodge 2500.

Very
nice hitch, looks like it will do exactly what I need it to. Very easy to install, took about 2 hours by myself. Instructions were spot on.

The only thing I can say is I wish they would have included 4 of the fish wires, would have made it just a little easier to install all the bolts onto the frame. But besides that, everything was included.

This hitch is first class. As a contractor, I have owned many hitch receivers over the years. Fit my 2007 Big Horn Ram perfectly. This is precision crafted. I had it on in less than an hour.
Thank for a great product. I had my order faster than expected, and saved $200 bucks on it across the board!

This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your Dodge with included hardware. The B&W Heavy-Duty Trailer Hitch item # BWHDRH25211 is made in the USA and weighs 73 lbs. • Comparison of Reese Titan and B&W Heavy-Duty Class V Trailer Hitch Receivers
Both the Reese Titan Trailer Hitch Receiver # 45288 and the B&W Heavy-Duty Trailer Hitch # BWHDRH25211 are Class V hitches. The B&W does have the tongue weight you're looking for at 1600 pounds, while the Reese is only 1200 pounds. However, if you use weight distribution the tongue weight increases to 1700 pounds. Both are custom fit to your 2011 Ram 2500 and may require some drilling to install. The Reese is a 2-1/2 inch receiver and the B&W is a 2 inch. Although the Reese hitch is...

  • Why Won't The B&W Trailer Hitch Receiver Fit a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 Short Bed With Factory Receiver?
The B&W Heavy-Duty Trailer Hitch Receiver # BWHDRH25211 we found hit a factory exhaust hanger on the short bed version of your 2005 Ram 1500. While this will fit with a simple relocation of the hanger we put the note saying it will only work on the 8' bed since it requires modification. Since you want the receiver to fit snug as possible to your factory bumper you might consider the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 14361 since the B&W and all other receivers designed to fit with the factory...

  • Best Trailer Hitch Option for a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 with Aftermarket Bumper
The trailer hitch options we offer for a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 are designed for models with the factory bumper. That said, the B&W Heavy-Duty Trailer Hitch Receiver part # BWHDRH25211 would be our best option as it does not actually tie into the bumper and the receiver tube has quite a drop. It measures 9.380" from the top of the mounting flange to the top of the receiver tube.

  • What Does B&W Hitch BWHDRH25211 Look Like Installed on a 2012 Ram w/Factory Hitch
The best image I could find of B&W hitch # BWHDRH25211 was in the instructions and it is a line diagram and not an actual picture. But it shows how the new hitch receiver will be directly beneath the factory receiver on your 2012 Ram 2500/3500.

  • Which B and W Trailer Hitch Fits 2012 Ram 2500
The center section of the 3-piece B and W hitches like the # BWHDRH25211 that fits your 2012 Ram 2500 is not a universal component that fits various trucks with different side brackets. Instead all three pieces are made to fit the trucks so an entirely new hitch would be what you'd need.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendations for a 2011 Dodge Ram
On the 2011 Dodge Ram that structural bar isn't a spare tire frame, it is a cross member that links the two frame rails together so it is very strong. This is also where Dodge welds on the factory hitch for trucks that have it. The hitch you choose, no matter where it installs, needs to have the capacity to handle the loaded car hauler. The truck also needs to be rated high enough. The highest capacity hitch for the 1500 series is # C15572 rated for 1500 pounds tongue weight and 15,000...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendations for a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 with Factory Trailer Hitch
The factory trailer hitch on a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 is not welded to the bumper but it is welded to a support beam that attaches the 2 frame rails so you would not be able to remove it. That is why I recommend a hitch designed to fit models that have the factory trailer hitch. Check out Curt trailer hitch # C15409. This is a beast rated for 2,550 pounds tongue weight and 17,000 pounds gross trailer weight but still with a 2 inch receiver. I have linked a video showing installation for you. Another...

  • Where Will The Receiver Tube Of the B&W Trailer Hitch Receiver # BWHDRH25211 Sit Under The Bumper?
The B&W Heavy-Duty Trailer Hitch Receiver # BWHDRH25211 is designed in a way that it will fit with or without a factory receiver. The multiple mounting points on the side plates will decide where the receiver sits. When you remove your factory receiver you will be able to bolt the cross tube in the upper hole set to have it sit where the factory receiver sits.

  • Hitch Recommendation for a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500
If Dodge says that the towing capacity for your 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 is 7,000 lbs then that is the heaviest trailer you can tow. A towing setup is only as strong as it's weakest component. If you were to install a hitch with a heavier capacity than what your vehicle has it would not allow you to tow a trailer above the capacity for the vehicle. If you can find a lighter trailer so that your setup weighs less than the capacity for your vehicle you could install the B and W Hitch part # BWHDRH25211. Since...

The B and W Hitch part # BWHDRH25211 that you referenced will fit your 2008 Dodge Ram 3500 dually. Having a dually axle does not affect whether this hitch would fit or not. So either way it would fit.
