This Advent Air AC unit lets you replace an existing, old or broken air conditioner or add a new air conditioner to an area on your RV or camper that doesn't already have one. The AC has a powerful fan and motor that provides a steady stream of air to efficiently cool the inside of your RV on a hot or muggy day. For your convenience, the included air distribution box has a built-in thermostat that lets you set the fan speed and temperature. The included start capacitor will help jumpstart the AC. This beneficial upgrade provides the AC a boost when shore power or generator power isn't enough to start it. And everything you need in order to replace or add an AC unit is included, which makes installation simple and easy.

Air Distribution Box and Thermostat

Advent Air Air Distribution Box

The AC unit includes an air distribution box with a built-in thermostat. The dial on the left controls the 3 cool settings and the 3 fan speed settings, which let you increase or decrease the airflow. If you add an electric heat strip (sold separately) to remove the chill on cold mornings, then the dial also controls the heat setting. The dial on the right allows you to set the temperature. Additionally, there are adjustable registers on the front and back of the box. These can be tilted up, down, or side-to-side for directing the air where needed. The removable air filter prevents dust and dirt from building up on the fan blades.

Start Capacitor

Advent Air Start Capacitor

If your campsite or generator isn't able to draw the power you need, then you may have difficulty starting your AC unit. The included start capacitor, however, can eliminate this problem. The capacitor stores energy that will later be used to jumpstart the AC. Once the sufficient amount of power has been supplied to the AC, the compressor will start to run, and the internal relay switch will turn the start capacitor off. At the same time, the compressor will send "back voltage" to the relay switch and capacitor in order to energize them for the next startup.

Simple Installation

Because your RV is likely already prepped and pre-wired for an AC unit, installation is simple and easy. Most AC units, including this one, are designed to fit an opening that measures 14-1/4" x 14-1/4". Depending on your roof setup, you may need to do minimal alterations. If the opening is larger than 14-3/8" x 14-3/8", you will need to install spacers between the sides of the unit and the opening's edges. If the opening is smaller than 14-1/8" x 14-1/8", you will need to enlarge the hole to fit the unit snugly inside the opening.

Advent Air AC Collapsible Gasket and Foam Pads

On the bottom of the AC, there's a thick, collapsible gasket with 6 noise-reducing foam pads. This provides support between the RV roof and AC and seals the opening to prevent water and outside air from leaking in. Because of this, the use of fresh sealant isn't required during installation.

To install the start capacitor, bolt it to the fan motor support with the included hardware and then route the wires to the run capacitor.

Once installed, the hard plastic cover on the AC can easily be removed for maintenance and cleaning.

Advent Air Warranty Coverage

2-Year limited warranty covers defective units when installed correctly on approved applications. The warranty does not cover units installed incorrectly. To ensure air conditioner is installed correctly, please see the questionnaire pdf below. A filled-out questionnaire is required for warranty coverage.

If you are not comfortable using a voltmeter (or removing the charge from the start capacitor), youll want to make a service appointment with your local RV dealer to verify the installation. Print the pdfs below (warranty- questionnaire, warranty dealer information) and take them along with the RV to your local dealer. ASA does compensate dealers for warranty work as outlined in the dealer information pdf. You may be charged by the dealer for time spent investigating the installation.

Start capacitor had to be replaced this year. Otherwise, unit works fine.

by:

We bought this to replace a very old Coleman A/C. This was the product recomended to us by the etrailer team. It fit in the existing spot and works well.

by:

My husband installed this as a second air conditioner in our 5th wheel. Installation took a little longer than expected due to getting the inside template to line up with the main unit. Also, it is pretty noisy on medium and high; however, that doesn’t bother us as we like to sleep with “white noise”. Overall, it cools well and is a fairly straightforward installation with minor adjustments needed. If you are mechanically inclined, installation should not be an issue.

by:

Ordered this rooftop AC to replace an old one on my houseboat. Received in two days and installed in a few hours! Works great! May even add the optional heat strip for next winter.

by:

Received without any damage, product has performed well, would have given 5 stars but inner mounting plate was not strong enough where you tighten the bolts to compress the gasket. Used fender washers to add some strength to keep it from bending. Gasket is very firm and cannot be compressed to the torque spec recommended in the instructions. If I installed it again, I would put some sealant on the gasket face and add some flat stock over the holes before I tighten it down. Over construction quality was excellent. Used it all summer with no problems.

by:

A very clean unit.. Works perfectly. Easy to install. Came with a "soft Start" capacitor... Use it almost every day.. Replaced a dead unit, fits in the normal 14" vent square... Takes 110 AC does not need 12 volt...

by:

Not installed yet but based on price, value and delivery, I’m giving this 5 stars.
Never bought anything from etrailer I’ve ever been disappointed with. Dolid rep, great prices, hassle free shopping and delivery.

by:

Sent me a defective 13.5 BTU ac. When I asked about a replacement, I was asked why would we replace it, we need you to drive 2 hours and have it repaired because it is Warranty. No warranty is when a product fails after use, defective is when it comes broken.

Oh no! If it arrived defective, lets get it replaced! I have sent your information over to customer service for them to get a replacement sent out to you.

by:

Excellent rv ac for the price except the hardware that comes with all the screws and mounting bolts where not long enough.
Everything is now installed and works perfectly.
I have bought items from etrailer for years and your customer service is second to none! Thank you!!

I have bought several things from these guys and the service is great.I will continue doing business with them.

Excellent

by:

Very pleased with this unit. This was a new install onto a 2002 Palamino Bronco 1200 slide in pop up truck camper. Installed directly onto existing 14" roof vent. Total project took under 2 hrs. Camper was not pre-wired for A/C, so 20A circuit was installed using plastic wire conduit/moulding.

I had originally wanted to use a 2000w Honda generator to power camper, but will need to upgrade to a bigger generator to power this unit.

by:

We are very pleased with the purchase of the 13,500 BTU Advent Air RV Air Conditioner for our camper trailer. Excellent customer service from the moment we placed the order.
Especially helpful was the video tutorial step by step how to install the AC.
It works perfectly and will almost freeze us out of the trailer on High!!!

by:

I am very impressed with your customer service and the speed that it was delivered and I will be sending photos of it when installed but instead of the 75 degrees it was yesterday, it's snowing today. Because I've got to crawl on top of the camper to install it, I'll send photos when the snow stops and it warms up.

Advent 13.5k AC, easy install, works great. 10/10

by:

Advent air conditioner arrived in a timely manner. Everything was as expected.
Installed the unit, and it worked fine. Only issue was that the instructions for installing the additional start capacitor were a little vague. Talked to David at etrailer, and he provided an excellent video that clarified the installation. It would be nice for etrailer to provided a roof adapter for my ProMaster to fit the contour of the roof, but I was able to obtain one from Impact Graphics to ensure a leak proof installation.
Have been very pleased with everything I have ordered from etrailer.

by:

As a customer I was not very satisfied with the attention I received

by:

My order was received sooner than expected. Very friendly and helpful people with customer service.

by:

My review is on Lori at etrailer, when I ordered my advent a/c unit I knew it would not be available for 6 to 8 weeks, she kept me informed & when they received a shipment let me know, delivery was quick. Thank you Lori for keeping me informed . Due to travel I won't be installing the unit till spring so I can't review it at this time. I have bought from etrailer in the past & will again in the future, Great job.

by:

  • Advent RV Air Conditioner Decibel Rating
The Advent Air 13.5k RV air conditioner units have a decibel rating of 76. The Furrion Chill units like the 15k part # FR92PR is a little louder at 80 decibels but blows colder air. Even though it is a little louder, I recommend the Furrion.

  • Air Conditioner Recommendation For 24 Foot x 8 Foot Enclosed Trailer
For a 24' x 8' enclosed trailer, you're looking at about 200 square feet, and for that size, I recommend a 13,500 Btu air conditioner, which will more than suffice for that space. I also highly recommend a start capacitor to go with the AC in order to ensure your unit always has enough power to start up whenever you need. With that in mind, there are two really good options for you, both from Advent. One has a thermostat and controls directly on the air distribution box, and the other...

The number that you gave me didn't come back to anything but there is a quick way to tell if the Advent Air Replacement RV Air Conditioner for Dometic Setup w/ Start Capacitor # ACDOM135B is going to be compatible. First, remove the shroud and check the BTU rating of your current unit. You'll want to match or go higher than your current rating. The # ACDOM135B has a 13,500 BTU rating. • Recommendation for Adding AC Unit to Small Enclosed Trailer
The best option we have available for your converted enclosed camper is the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner # ACM135BC because it's going to provide the most efficient cooling solution for the camper's interior during those hot summer months. We do not have any smaller AC units available and anything smaller we offer will be something like a powered ceiling fan vent which will only work to circulate air around the camper and not actually cool it down. • Will 13,500 Btu Advent Air Conditioner Cool Enclosed Trailer
Yes, the 13,500 Btu Advent Air RV Air Conditioner with Air Distribution Box and Start Capacitor # ACM135C (White) or # ACM135BC (Black) will cool your enclosed trailer. These are ductless systems as I assume your trailer does not have ducts. That said, it will essentially need to always be on so you do need to monitor your generators and be sure they are full. A smaller RV air conditioner unit with a lower vent assembly would be your best option like the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner w/ Air Distribution Box and Start Capacitor # ACM135BC. As long as your roof is between 2-1/2 inch and 5 inches thick this will fit and work great.
