Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Everything was perfect, start to finish !!

Fit perfect

by:
2003 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup

Installation was a bit more than I originally anticipated, but over all not bad. The finish could be better, but it's a hitch receiver, it doesn't have to look nice, just be tough and do the job which is exactly what it does. I have the same hitch on a nother truck which is why I bought it for this one. Awesome customer service and VERY fast shipping. Awesome product and company

Still working as advertised with no issues.

by:
1996 GMC Sonoma

Installed on a 1996 GMC Sonoma 2 WD extended cab. Purchased the light set as well. It was drop shipped to my In-Laws house very quickly. The instructions were fairly straight forward and everything fit and went together fine. This truck has a factory heavy duty suspension and tires, but the receiver tongue will still drag a bit on steep grades. The new light kits are a snap, wonderful piece of equipment. I hooked up a rental trailer and towed it from Kansas City to Orlando, no issues at all. I have purchased more than one hitch from etrailer and will do it again.

works great. I installed it myself along with a new bumper. No problems so far. 2000 s10 short bed

by:

It took a little extra work on 2003 S10 because there are some brackets that need to come off in order for this to fit.
But is really string and nice looking.

by:
2002 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup

Purchased this hitch for a recently acquired 2002 S10.
It arrive within 3 days of order, using free shipping.
I was concerned at first because I saw no hardware, BUT, it and instructions were all attached to the hitch receiver so they couldn't be lost.
Install took me two hours. I had reviewed the you tube video for my truck.
The video made it easy.
I didn't have to remove the bumper cover or drop the spare with my " no hitch" bumper.

Older S10 are known for grounding issues. Take time to clean the frame and ground connectors while you have them removed for the install.

by:
Lincoln LS

The install diagram was not clear for the type of truck I have. I have side step bumpers on an LS extended cab S10. I went [online] and found an install similar to mine and was able to see the hitch has to go on the outside of the frame. That is the reason for the 4 star rating.
I have used it a couple of times and seems to work great! It's nice to have a hitch to haul small loads or lawn mower around. A country girl has to have her truck well equipped.

Expected delivery in a few weeks, but it arrived in just a few days(5).

Packaging was heavily damaged and one mounting arm was banged hard enough to require some persuasion to get back into position(mounting width and squared), plus small area repainted.

The good news was, the signal/brake/running light assembly was well protected by double cardboard as there was a big puncture in the package right near the lighting harness adapter/wiring unit position and that extra protection probably would have saved it from damage had that puncture been where the unit was.

Haven't installed yet, so can't comment on installation. Will update later.

Overall, very satisfied, and will be doing more business with etrailer in the very near future.

And thanks etrailer for the quick service and great value.

I ordered a Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" for my 1998 S-10 4X4. Took less than a week to get it delivered, great service from etrailer. My salesman was Steve, very courteous and helpful. And he did a follow-up when it was delivered which I appreciated, thanks Steve. The product is tough and installed like a glove.

by:

This item along with the light wiring harness fit exactly as the unit and pick up were designed. The video installation was worth watching several times before assembly.
Very well made and worth the expense.

Good, heavy hitch.: All parts were there. No pictures. We installed outside. The box came in handy to lay on.

I have used that hitch so many times I cant count.. Hauled lumber, and tin for storm fix-up and, moved to a new place to live. A small truck, with a 5×8 trailer. So far so good!.

by:

The videos made installation a breeze. My experience with customer service was great. I was notified by Jan that the hitch that I ordered was out of stock, and she came up with an alternative hitch and shipped my order right away. The hitch came super fast and the packaging was the best, no damage at all. I will look to etrailer for all my trailer needs.

Everything worked great! The wiring harness and hitch were a gift to my son for his 2000 S-10, and he reported that the installation went perfectly...

by:

Item was exactly as described. Very fast shipping!

by:

Put this hitch on 2002 S-10 with step bumper. Tight fit going on. Had elongate one hole in bumper brackets to get bolts in. Make sure you remove the plastic pad on the bumper first, as you need to get to the bolts that hold the bumper to the brackets.
Otherwise it is a nice sturdy hitch.

by:
2003 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup

Prompt shipping on the hitch receiver and accessories. Installation was fast and went smooth. I watched the video to preview the job. It was completed the same day we received the package. Thank you.

by:

I received the hitch this afternoon Was able to install the hitch and wiring in about a hour.Good fit I price out if I bought from at a dealer and it was twice what I had spend with then doing the complete job. Some how I had ordered the wrong hitch the frist time called customer service and the resloved problem and send me the correct one. I would buy from them again,,,,Thanks Vince

1999 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup

Easy install and no problems after one year of frequent use pulling small trailers with mowers, canoes, landscape mulch, and other light loads like that.

by:

Product is very good. Looks very professional. Installation is easy and instructions are provided.

Shipped on time -- only issue was the box didn't survive the trip There was no damage to the hitch, It traveled well.

by:

I got exactly what I ordered. The receiver hitch fit perfectly, and I am very pleased. It took me about 45 minutes to do the whole job. But I have 40 years experience as diesel mechanic also. I would highly recommend a cordless impact wrench, because there are a lot of nuts and bolts.

  • Help Picking Out Trailer Hitch for 1997 Chevy S-10 with Sportside and Roll Pan Bumper
Sounds like you have the Sportside with a non towing bumper which would mean you would want the part # 75085. If instead you had the factory roll pan bumper you would want the pat # 13920. I attached a picture of what the sportside with non-towing bumper looks like. If that matches your truck you would want the # 75085.

This is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver and does not require any drilling into your frame to install. I have added a link to the installation instructions for you to check out.
