The Draw-Tite Class III 2 Inch Hitch, part # 75085, will fit the 2002 GMC Sonoma Sportside with Non-Towing Bumper, the Sonoma with the Step Bumper, and the Sonoma ZR2 models. The recommended ball mount for this hitch is the Convert-A-Ball 3/4 Inch Rise or 2 Inch Drop Ball Mount, part # AMSC2. This is for a GMC Sonoma at the stock factory height.
Trailer hitches are designed to handle a certain weight carrying capacity on the vehicle, based on the vehicle having a factory suspension. If the suspension on your GMC Sonoma has been modified in any way, such as during the being lowered, the modification could alter the towing capacity that is stated for the hitch. I could not recommend that you tow anything if the vehicle has been modified.
You will also want to check your owners manual or with the GMC dealer to make sure you are able to tow with your vehicle, even if it has not been modified.
I am including a link to the installation instructions on the Draw-Tite hitch.
