The drawbars, or front arms, on the EZ series base plate kit are supremely easy to mount and remove. Just insert them into the brackets and twist to lock them in place. To remove, simply twist the arms back and pull them out. Once the drawbars have been removed, the remaining brackets are virtually invisible. On most automobiles, the brackets are mounted within the grille, where they remain not only unseen, but protected from scrapes and scuffs as well.

Installed on 2011 Ford Edge Limited AWD. Installation video helped a lot.

The Roadmaster base plate arrived on time and in good condition just as Melissa said. It appears to be as advertised. Will know better when I get it installed. The instructions seem to be clear and easy to understand. All attaching hardware is present and new.
Etrailer is a excellent website to view and purchase from. I recommend it.

2013 Ford Edge

This is a very nicely made tow-bar base which was somewhat easy to install. Of course the instructions that came with the base was extremely helpful.

by:

Everything went smoothly with my order and arrived within the expected time frame. Great experience and will use your service again.

by:

Great people to deal with. Order rec'd sooner than expected and the Roadmaster equipment was excellent.

by:

The instructions were very good, the video was excellent. If I could make a recommendation, it was a little lacking at the end. Since the Smart car is virtually held together with push pins a little more time spent putting the car back together wourl have been helpful. I'm all done and I have 2 push pins left over and don't know where they go.

by:

I received the base plate for my Miata at 4:30 Monday by 7:00 it was installed and ready to go.A great product fit very nicely.Ordering and follow up went great can’t wait to try it out Just need to decide on the tow bar we will use.The Falcon or Sterling .Thank you for a great product and service.

Installation is a bit involved but worth every second of it for the peace of mind while driving. Had a slight issue with my ordering incorrect parts but these guys went above and beyond to get it resolved in time to not miss my trip. Even rush manufactured them due to not being in stock!! Great company to do business with.

by:

This system worked perfectly from experience. They help from trailers e trailer agents was crucial for guiding me through the process.

by:

Product is great, packaging was rough, the parts were banging into each other inside the box. Box looked like it either had been opened before or had sat in a warehouse for several years.

by:

Service was immediate. Delivered on time. Tracking was exact. My opinion, overall outstanding.

by:

2007 MX5
The build quality was good....welds
were well done....paint was good
Instructions were pretty thorough.
Lots of trimming away of the splash shield for this install!!
Oh well...no choice I guess.

by:

Purchased the towing adapter for my GMC Terrain a few week ago, received it on time & boxed not damaged. Watched the videos’ about three time on how to do it myself and started one evening and finished it the next morning about three hours with Beer Breaks, LoL. All the parts fix perfectly, had no problems with any of the parts, Product is real sturdy and if you don’t know where to look at the bumper you will not see the hide away receiver brackets. Very nice product, do it yourself and save
Up loading two photos if it will let me one is with hide away brackets installed and the other one you can see is my complete tow bar attached to the hide away brackets

This reasonably priced base plate kit was professionally installed on a coupe that was pulled around the New England states for two months. The kit and the car made it possible to see many sites along the route that would have been bypassed without the toad. The kit is solid and provides secure tow-ability.

by:

Roadmaster base plate for 2010 GMC Terrain. Very detailed instructions, great videos. Product was as described, no holes to drill, just replace factory parts with Roadmaster parts. Everything went together very well. I used the instructions supplied along with the video on my laptop. Hardest part was popping the bumper shroud back on due to colder temperature. I have a fair bit of experience with rebuilding classic cars so have lots tools and reasonable mechanical ability.

by:

Prepared my vehicle for the base plate. The base plate has a manufacturing defect in that the crossbar is approximately.375 inches short. The hole pattern matched on one side but the other side would not line up with the vehicle holes. The mounting plate overlapped the mounting holes by 1/3rd. Clearly, the assembly was short. I find my disassembled vehicle sitting for a week waiting for the replacement to arrive. Hopefully, Roadmaster QC did a better job on the new base plate assembly that I am waiting for.

by:

It is a lot easier to take of the bumper it is all plastic anyway then to take off the air intake

by:

Customer service is very helpful and patient as they walked through everything I needed to set up a car to be towed behind my motorhome.

by:

Installed on 2014 GMC Acadia. Very sturdy and heavy duty base plate. I installed it myself. You will need a little automotive knowledge and more tools then the average do it yourself-er. It took about 6 hours, by myself. It looks more intimidating then it turned out to be. You can't see it when not in use which makes it nice for the wife, since it's her car.
Pictures show the tow bar adapter. Sorry, no pictures of adapter removed.

by:

Parts came very quickly. The base plates are really well make and of heavy material. If you watch the video it is a breeze to install. Make sure you have some new clips for your bumper as the old ones will break, not all but some. I ordered clips from Amazon. I used a vibrating saw with cutting blade and it did nice job cutting plastic bumper cover.

by:

I have bought 3 different ones over the years. They all fit perfectly and the videos are so helpful too.

by:

I was having problems with the bracket that was on the car when I bought it and when it no longer felt safe to me, I looked on your website for a replacement. Lo and behold, this product appeared to be better designed and an easier installation. Putting 8t on today proved that. I am very happy with the product and your service. Thank you very much!

by:

Very heavy duty. Much more than needed for my application but better more than less.
Heavy duty also means heavy in weight. Not easy to lift and move.

by:

my baseplate was delivered on time and in great shape.

by:

Great installation instructions and video. Was an interesting and fun project installing in our Mini-Cooper

  • Most Hidden Base Plates for 2014 Ford Edge, and Parts Needed to Flat Tow
I spoke with my contact at Roadmaster and he confirmed that the # 524426-1 base plate that fits the 2014 Ford Edge with adaptive cruise control will not fit the Edge without adaptive cruise control. The fascia is different between these two different style Edges, so the base plates are not interchangeable. Between the Roadmaster # 4408-1 and the Blue Ox # BX2628 base plates for your 2014 Ford Edge (non-EcoBoost), it appears that the Roadmaster # 4408-1 would be more hidden due to the...

The Roadmaster Blackhawk Tow Bar part # RM-422 can definitely be used to flat tow your 2011 Ford Edge. The correct base plate you'll need is the # 4408-1 if you do not have adaptive cruise control or part # 524426-1 for if you do have adaptive cruise control. For safety cables you can use # RM-643. The coiled design helps keep the cables off of the ground. For lighting you can use the diode kit, # RM-15267, and not have to worry about cutting into the taillight housing. This will splice...

We carry several lighting options for the 2013 Ford Edge. I have included a link to them for you to view. A brake light relay may be required depending on the system you choose. A kit that bypasses the vehicle wiring like a magnetic kit # RM-2120 will not require a brake light relay. Any other system will require the brake light relay # RM-88400. You will also want to consult the vehicle owners manual for additional information on flat towing the vehicle. In the research I did I found...

If you have a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine, you need to use a tow dolly. If you do have a 6-cylinder engine and are flat towing your vehicle, the instructions for putting your transmission in neutral are as follows: - Release the parking brake. - Place the transmission in position N. - Place the ignition in the accessory position. • Roadmaster Base Plates for a 2011 Ford Edge Sport WITHOUT Adaptive Cruise Control
The Roadmaster EZ base plates # 524426-1 and the XL model, # 4408-1, use different receivers, which is that main crossbar the arms attach to. They are nearly identical but since the EZ model has not been tested or confirmed to fit your 2011 Ford Edge I cannot recommend it. The access to the pins for the XL base plates is different on every vehicle. You may find that they are easier to access on your Edge than on your Accord. I have linked a video showing installation of the XL base plates.

For a non-EcoBoost engine vehicle without the adaptive cruise control, you'd want to use the # 4408-1 base plates which is for vehicles without the adaptive cruise control.
