Question:
Even though Roadmaster says base plate 524426-1 will work it will not on 2012 Edge with eco boost. What base plate will work with 2012 edge with eco boost? What is different about Roadmaster 4408-1 that allows for it work on Edge with eco boost?

Expert Reply:
The correct base plate kit for towing your 2012 Ford Edge with Eco-Boost is the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, # 4408-1, if your vehicle does not have Adaptive Cruise Control.
If your 2012 Edge does not have the Eco Boost option, but does have adaptive cruise control, then you would want # 524426-1.
If your 2012 Edge has both Adaptive Cruise Control and Eco-Boost, we do not have a base plate install kit that will work on your vehicle. I do not believe both options are available with the Edge.
For lighting to flat tow your Edge you will need the Roadmaster 6-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles with Separate Lighting, # 154-792-118158.
Other items you may need to complete your dinghy towing setup would be a tow bar like the RoadMaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar, # RM-520, safety cables, like part # RM-645, and braking system like the Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System, # RM-8700.
Before flat towing your Edge, you should confirm the towability and pre-tow procedures for your vehicle with your owners manual or contact the vehicle manufacturer for towing instructions.
