Stainless steel is sturdy and corrosion resistant.I finished part of my basement as a play area. We wanted the wall separating the rooms to be able to be opened so the whole area felt open. But also be closable for when we need quiet, or want to make it dark for family movie night. Decided to do big hatch doors, like the old fashioned concession stand windows. The first brackets we used worked but I was concerned about the weight of the hatch door. We made them very sturdy, and they are heavy. We upgraded the brackets with these ball studs and they have eliminated the flex we saw on the first attempt. Happy with the added stability and confidence we have in the hatches being secure. To make them work we removed the standard ball stud from the bracket, cleaned up the hole and tightened these in their place.
