Hidden Cross Tube for a Clean, Factory Look

The EcoHitch Hidden trailer hitch is designed to be as inconspicuous as possible. The hitch's cross tube bolts onto your vehicle's frame, behind your rear bumper. No drilling or welding is required. Once the hitch is installed, only the receiver will be visible beneath your bumper. This means that your vehicle can maintain its stylish, from-the-factory look, and you won't have to do any major modifications to its body or frame.

Eco-Friendly Material

With a combination of aerospace-grade aluminum, steel, and stainless steel, each EcoHitch is made of a strong metal alloy that will withstand the test of time. The lightweight alloy is composed of recycled materials. Traditional steel hitch manufacturing can use coal or oil, which can contribute to harmful gas emissions. The EcoHitch's recycled materials limit the carbon footprint during manufacturing, so you get a sturdy trailer hitch while also helping the environment.

Rigorous Strength Testing Ensures Durability

This EcoHitch trailer hitch is tested for durability and sturdiness. Using Finite Elemental Analysis (FEA), individual points of stress on the hitch can be detected and remedied. Designers can accurately test the hitch to ensure that it will meet or exceed SAE J684 standards. The EcoHitch Hidden trailer hitch is carefully researched and strength tested for a durable, high-quality hitch that can resist damage while on the road.

The receiver is built solidly. Etrailer needs to step up with how they pack their receivers. A big box with an oddly shaped piece of metal just flopping around with no packing. My order arrived with giant holes on the box and paint missing from the corners and edges of the receiver. It also had paint missing all along the cross member that did not contact the box. I ended up painting the bare metal to prevent premature rust. No point in trying to have Etrailer “fix” it. What they need to fix is their packing process.

I am sorry that you had to repaint your hitch. Let me get you over to customer service and see if we can give you some credit for the cost of the paint. We are working daily on getting our packaging updated to better secure the hitches during shipment.

Overall this is a good looking and high quality tow hitch. I only give it 4 stars for reason with installation difficulty. The tow hitch is strong and heavy. I was able to install it myself it took me 3 solid hours because I made mistakes and had to redo some of the steps and had difficulty with fitting it onto the van. The side arms of the hitch came crooked it bends inward and not squared looking. After I struggled trying to fit it on my van and failed for a while I almost gave up and wanted to return it but I was hesitant bc it’s too heavy to ship. I took a rubber mallet and bang it out so it finally fit. It was a relieved after all.

I didn’t Jack up the van I am small enough to get under. I used Jack standards to hold it up while I screwed in the bolts. I made mistakes of using only 1 washers the instructions says use 1 flat and 1 lock washer. My bad for not reading the instructions carefully. I wish the instructions came with pictures (I am not a good reader).

The exhaust tail was easy to lower only after I sprayed w-40. So make sure you have it on hand. The instruction says so as well. I watched a [online] video they failed to lower it and installed it as is. This was third party [online videos]. I am more than satisfied after the installation is complete. It is a good quality hitch.

Just installed my new hitch. Went relatively smoothly. A few additional hints... it is best to scrape away the "foam-like insulation" or overspray around the outside of the trunk to ensure you can fit the hitch into place. Also be careful not to hit/bend any of the protruding pins (that hold the plastic undermount) with the horizontal bar of the hitch. You also may need to trim a bit of the plastic undermount on the side without the exhaust for a proper final fit. You also need a second set of hands to complete the job. And one final hint, you do not need to completely remove the plastic undermount....leave the pins/clips closest to the front of the van (sienna 2011) in place and let the panel hang down.

Been happy so far. Some rust forming inside the receiver area which worries me a bit after such a short time though.

Unfortunately, the metal on metal abrasion caused by the friction between the shank of the hitch accessory and the inside of the receiver tube will eventually wear away the powder coating, leaving the hitch susceptible to corrosion. We recommend doing a little preventative maintenance one a year to keep the rust in check. I'll link you to a help article with more information.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Toyota Sienna with Best Ground Clearance
It's not by much, but the EcoHitch part # 306-X7255 has the best ground clearance for your 2018 Toyota Sienna. It has right at 1/2 inch more ground clearance than the other hitches. It also has a concealed crosstube which means only the hitch hangs down below the bumper. This also helps with ground clearance when turning into a steep driveway too.

  • Hitch for 2017 Toyota Sienna with Best Ground Clearance
The hitch for your 2017 Toyota Sienna with the best ground clearance is actually the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7255 as it fit up the highest into the rear fascia. I attached a picture for more info as well. I also attached an install video for this for you to check out as well.

  • How Much Does the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver for a 2017 Toyota Sienna Weigh
The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 306-X7255 is an excellent option for a 2017 Toyota Sienna. It weighs around 45 lbs but this won't get factored into tongue weight. Therefore, so long as the weight of the bike and carrier are under the tongue weight capacity of the hitch/vehicle (whichever is lower) then you'll be good to go.

I have two options for the limited ground clearance you have on your 2017 Toyota Sienna. The first option as you mentioned would be to install a different trailer hitch. The trailer hitch we have for your Sienna that will offer the most ground clearance is the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 306-X7255 which from the ground to the top of the inside edge of the receiver tube is 13-1/4". For your 2018 Toyota Sienna I do recommend installing a 4-Way harness and then going with a 4-Way to 6-Way adapter for when it's time to tow the pop-up camper. This will be the easiest and most reliable method for your vehicle. As you mentioned in your question your Sienna has a separate wiring system, which means the brake and turn signals are sent along separate wires. Because of this a powered converter is needed to not only safeguard the vehicle's wiring and provide enough power to...

EcoHitch does not have a statement on if hitch # 306-X7255 excludes any version of the 2018 Toyota Sienna or not. But the similar Draw-Tite hitch # 76112 is shown to fit all styles of the 2018 Toyota Sienna. Since both hitches install in basically the same way you could come to the conclusion that the EcoHitch also fits all styles of the 2018 Sienna and that would include models with the rear backup camera and sensors. The dealer is probably talking more about the sensors detecting a hitch...

  • Recommended Best Trailer Hitch Receiver for Ground Clearance on 2018 Toyota Sienna
There is not a minimum clearance required by law for a trailer hitch, so you simply want to make sure you are able to travel without bottoming out your receiver. For instance, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13105 has a dimension of 12 inches from the inside top of the receiver which means approximately 9 inches from the ground to the bottom edge due to the lower the side brackets.
