Excellent product experience. No issues with delivery. Easy self-install. Very sturdy and holding up well after 1 year so far.

2006 Honda CR-V

This hitch was exactly as advertised and fit my CRV perfectly!!! Used spray bottle with soap & water to lube the two upper muffler rear hangers and they slid off with little prying needed (did not need to remove the lower hanger in front of muffler). etrailer's installation videos for installing both this hitch and corresponding 118336 wiring harness were spot-on and very helpful (also a good video on the Curt website). Took my time tightening the hitch bolts to specs which was a bit awkward until I thought to use my ratchet extension bars. Maybe the easiest "car repair" I've ever done, and probably saved a lot of $$$ doing it myself. If you can change your oil, you can do this installation no problem!
Also, etrailer promptly shipped this product for free (thanks, guys!) and it got here a day early. GREAT COMPANY! When I save up enough to buy roof rack rails in the near future, I'll be back...

by:

I rarely give a 5-star rating. However, in this case it's necessary! I attempted to install my new etrailer Hitch Receiver but eventually discovered the mounting holes did not align due to shipping damage. I called the customer service group and rather than doubt my story, they immediately shipped me a new part AND sent a shipping label for the bad one! The new receiver went in easy-peezy just like the one I did years before on a different vehicle. Well done to the folks at etrailer.com

It’s the 1 year anniversary of my hitch apparently! This bad boy has been used exclusively to carry a hitch mounted 3 bike carrier on my CR-V, and it’s done a great job at that. My bikes are bae and they’ve been safe and secure alllll over the country the past year. I also fondly recall the easy install: Only took about 45 minutes, a beer, and a ( now ex-) boyfriend to help hold up one side . Didn’t get surprised by needing any specialty tools or anything, just what I already had in my standard box. 10/10.

by:
2006 Honda CR-V

I was happy that the package arrived a day earlier then expected, although the box was damaged all the part were there and nothing inside was damaged. the directions were clear and concise with with minor help from a friend and a scissor jack the install was fairly quick easy. The only down side was there wasn't an invoice with the package and the wiring harness didn't include directions to run the wiring to the outside of the vehicle.

2006 Honda CR-V

This hitch was a nice addition to my 2006 Honda CRV - it fit perfectly and I was able to install myself, saving me approx 150.00. The videos were the perfect teaching aid for the hitch and the wiring I installed, they left no questions unanswered and are very well done. I was mindful not to push the bolts back up into the holes while raising up the hitch, the center U support was a perfect help, as was resting the hitch on the muffler and getting started on the drivers side. The install came off as well as I could expect and am very satisfied with the fit and finish of this hitch. I highly recommend this hitch - I would recommend having two people to install - it would just make it easier.

by:

Having towed with this for a year, I can say that the build quality is excellent, and well designed. The catch is that the bolts that are used to secure the hitch to the frame ride so close to the exhaust (more precisely, the heat shield on the top side of the muffler) that is can create a very loud and annoying rattle on dirt roads and at certain resonant frequencies at highway use. I have tried many work arounds (bending hangers, installing bump stops, ect), and I believe the only true solution is to get a new muffler installed that is fractionally lower to avoid the vibration.

by:

Great hitch! Easy to install and has held up great over the last year. I use it quite often to tow my 4 wheeler and tractor. Great price for a well made hitch. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great hitch.

by:
2006 Honda CR-V

Great product. Excellent powder coated finish.

Installation was fairly easy. I thought I might need a lift but had no problem working under my car on my garage floor. I drove the back wheels up onto some pieces of 2 x 8 scrap wood, which gave me enough clearance. You will definitely need a helper to hold it up while you get the bolts lined up.

I had to get the hitch because I have a rescue dog named Toby, who takes up most of the back end of my 2006 Honda CRV. I have a utility trailer now to make runs to the home center or carry stuff on trips.

2006 Honda CR-V

Wow is all I can say! Talk about an easy project. My boyfriend is a mechanic and he told me we would be done in 20 minutes installing and that was right on. So easy ! Honestly I couldn’t believe it. I bought the wiring harness from this company as well and I installed that portion myself. Watched the video that is posted online from etrailer which took no more than 3 minutes and did it all in less than 20 minutes. Super excited to get my jet ski home ! Thank you for an easy to install product with perfect directions online!

2003 Honda CR-V

2003 CR-V install went well. First, watch the installation video! Be sure and lubricate the rubber hangars. Then you can remove and install by hand. Follow the Curt instructions for order of install. I forgot the u-bolt and it won't fit after the 4 frame bolts and nuts are installed. A second set of hands really helps. We used a needle nose pliers to hold the bolts while screwing on the nuts. There was interference between back passenger bolt and the muffler upon re-install, so I used a 13/16" box wrench to bend the back right muffler hangar up about 1/4". Problem solved! To reduce long term rust, I painted the exposed nuts and bolt ends with a rust resistant paint.

2009 Honda Odyssey

Just installed the hitch today. I ordered it on Thursday morning and arrived about 2pm on the following Tuesday. Got a call from the company saying my harness wasn’t instock and offered to either order an altenative or just wait for the originally oreded to be in stock; never had customer service like that before!

Wasn’t too bad to install. Without the harness install, prob took me about 30-45mins. Only issue i had was using the wires on the bolts ‘cause they wouldnt actually thread on, but was anle to minipulate them so it worked. Can’t wait to use it!

by:
2003 Honda CR-V

Super easy to install, took 30 min to the video was super helpful. It looks good on my car as well, the only problem I have is it's a little to big for my bike rack even though it said it was a 2 in I feel it's a little bigger but it works great!

by:

Currently use it every day with a bike carrier. Works great and the finish is holding up very well too.

by:

Installation took about 45 minutes. Completed it by myself, unhooking the 3 rubber exhaust hangers lowers muffler just enough to get to rail for installation,

by:

Easy install after watching video instructions. Just needed my 11/16 and 9/16 wrenches and took about 15-20 min total. This model sticks out farther than the "hidden" ones but will afford better tie down points for boats/ etc. Great service, fast shipping, and trusted products.

2006 Honda CR-V

Ordered on Saturday and recieved my hitch on Tuesday. Mounting was easier than expected. Look's great. It was very well packed and for once I didn't have to go buy anything to complete insulation. I would highly recommend.

by:

Hi,
This is very usefull to me because
im using for my bike rack daily??

by:

I had help from a family member to instal but we figured it out with ease and installed in less than an hour. I use this hitch to mount a bike rack and it works perfectly.

by:

Was easy to install after watching the videos. The fish wire was a really helpful trick! Fit perfectly on my 2003 CRV

by:
2006 Honda CR-V

Great product.

I watched the
video, took it out of the box and it was installed within about an hour.

Installation was as easy as shown in the video (2006 CR-V). I did all the work from the floor without lifting the vehicle.

I soaped the rubber grommets with a spray bottle to get the muffler off - pretty easy (I only removed the two near the muffler).

The only help I needed was my wife helped hold up the hitch for the initial bolt-up - no problems at all.

Fit and finish are outstanding.

I also got a Thule 934XTR hitch mount bike rack, received a the same time, which was also easy to assemble, and fit the hitch very well.

I highly recommend this product and this company.

Thanks,

Chris W

Very well. For 3006 CRV, bolts about 14 too long and would contact muffler over certain bumps, causing a rattle. Resolved the problem by installing a spacer in the rubber grommets which connect the muffler to the car thus reducing muffler vertical travel when going over bumps

2005 Honda CR-V

I can only speak to the process of assembling it to my 2005 CR-V as I haven't pulled anything with it yet, but I don't anticipate any issues. I am writing about the DIY aspect of the hitch because that was the main concern I had in buying it...It was pretty easy. Assembly was easy and straightforward. The videos posted on the website for my make and model of vehicle were particularly helpful and made the process go even smoother. Attaching the hitch receiver to your vehicle is very much a doable DIY project. They provided the fishing tools that are required to get the bolts into place. I thought it might be one of those "looks easier on a youtube video" type deals where you need to know some silly trick to do it easy, but that wasn't the case. I recommend that you use a car jack as I think it would've considerably more inconvenient if I didn't have one. The hitch looks great, I plan on using it to tow a small trailer from here to there.

Hitch still working great. Ive used it to tow a small trailer with lights from here to there on the highway and interstate multiple times. Havent had any problems.

Installed on our 2002 CRV. etrailer's customer service is excellent. The map-graphic on their package tracking is one of the best I've seen. Packaging was superb and my hitch (shipped to Alaska) arrived in great condition. The instructional videos were great and I installed the hitch in 3 hours with a brief hand from my wife (about 5 minutes holding up one end). I'd do business with etrailer again in a heartbeat.

2004 Honda CR-V

Super product! It arrived well packaged, all necessary (quality) hardware, and easy to read, clear instructions. I work in a body shop so I install and uninstall hitches on many different makes of vehicles regularly and this is one of the easiest ever. Start to complete from opening the box to backing up and hooking on to the trailer was less than 2 hours (wiring took an additional 30-45 mins). Would definitely recommend this hitch; and will definitely buy from etrailer again. Quick, easy transaction with super fast shipping!

One year down, still pulls and functions great. No issues, no regrets. Five star product and Five star customer service! Hitch will probably outlast the vehicle but the next vehicle will be fitted with a hitch from etrailer as soon as I purchase it.

Ordered my Curt trailer hitch on Nov. 16 and received it on Nov.18. A dealer wanted to charge me $360. plus tax for material and installation. . My cost for hitch and wiring $xxx. for my 2006 CR-V. Watched the videos and installed all of it by myself within an hour and a half.
Extremely satisfied with the service and the product. If I had not watched the videos I would not have tried it. Thank you Etrailer and Katie in customer service. I will use your service and recommend you to others.

The Draw-Tite hitch from the center of the hitch pin hole to the outside of the spare tire on a 2005 Honda CR-V is 8-3/4". • Recommendation for Finding a 2 Bike Rack and Hitch for My 2006 Honda CR-V
For your 2006 Honda CR-V, I would recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch for the 2006 Honda CR-V, item # 13535. Installation of this hitch is easy (see video and instructions link) and the 2 inch receiver opening will allow versatility for selecting other items as your needs may change in the future. The 1-1/4 inch hitches available for your CR-V will limit choices now and in the future. In my opinion you will be much happier with a 2 inch hitch and wheel mount style bike rack. Once you have...

At one point Curt used to require a stabilizer strap with some of their hitches when carrying a bike rack but they recently walked that back and it's no longer a requirement at all. So if you installed the Curt hitch # 13535 on your 2003 Honda CR-V you would not need to use a strap. Then for an e-bike carrier the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider part # HLY84FR is a really great option and value.
