Quiet, Secure Ride
The 3/4" thick jaw on the Patriot is precision machined to provide a tight, sturdy connection. And unlike slide-bar models, the rounded 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.
In addition to the sturdy jaw, the Patriot has durable polyurethane bushings built in to provide a smoother, more comfortable towing experience. These bushings sit on top of the pivot arms that support the fifth-wheel head. Because the head is resting on padded area, it is able to pivot without clanking. The ability of the head to pivot - both front to back and side to side - along with the trailer also helps to limit the chucking that may occur with a more static hitch.
Non-Binding Latch Handle
The dual jaw on the Patriot is operated by a simple-to-use cam-action handle. This handle allows you to quickly and easily release the jaws on the hitch, even if you are on uneven terrain. If any binding does occur between your truck and trailer, the jaws may remain closed after you move the handle to the open position. But because the handle is unlatched, there is nothing keeping the jaws closed except for the binding pressure. Therefore, simply driving your truck forward will be enough to force the jaws to open.
The cam-action handle is held in the closed position with the included pin and clip. For extra security, you can replace the pin with a sturdy padlock. The shackle on the lock you choose should have a diameter of 5/16", height of 3", and a width of 2-1/4".
Easily Adjustable Design
The B&W Patriot can be adjusted up and down for optimal positioning. As a result, this hitch can easily accommodate the height of your trailer.
Built-In Slider
Most often used on trucks with 6' beds, a slider helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a slider to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.
The slider that is built into the base of the Patriot allows for 12" of fore and aft travel to give you the clearance you need.

Brackets, 10-bolt base rails, and necessary hardware included.There was a snafu on the delivery of this, like it ending up 1000 miles from my house on the first try, and then the delivery company getting mad at me for not having a forklift at my house. Since I just got this yesterday I can't say much ab out it yet, I am still trying to install it. I do suggest a hoist in your garage if you plan on removing this hitch at all, it is heavy. It looks to be in great condition though! I can't wait to get it attached so I can give it a test drive on a 2 hour trip. I can tell you that two RV retailers suggested this B&W hitches, so I have high hopes. With all the products on the market today, to get recommendations from two different companies that installs them, is impressive.
From the start,the folks at etrailer were very courteous and helpful. I called many times during the decision making process and everyone was always right there to help. When I finally decided to purchase the B&W 18K Patriot w/slider Bailey was there to help with the order. She explained the free freight shipping and it was a done deal. It arrived 1 day earlier than stated, as soon as I opened the cartons it was in fact the good ol' American made quality I was accustomed to growing up. I proceeded to install on the B&W rails I purchased and installed locally on my 2022 F250 Lariat/ Tremor.I had a small hick- up with the install and etrailer gave me B&W's # as they like to handle issues themselves. Stephanie at B&W was just as courteous. Overall a very pleasant experience. The Patriot was basically plug and play. I then connected my 2021 Grand Design 303RLS Reflection and rolled down yhe road. What a smooth and quiet ride, loved it! I would definitely recommend etrailer and their products. Thank you all that helped.
This is a quality hitch. Very well constructed and I can't wait to try it out. If you need the bolt dow rails and kit give yourself plenty of time to install.
2004 GMC 2500HD
So far so good. Hitch appears to be good quality. It was easy to install after installing the mounting kit. I haven't used it yet so I can't comment on how it handles when pulling a camper.
This hitch is great! Works flawlessly and is easy to install. Directions for mounting hardware sucks . I I’m on of those who like to just hold it up and see how it works. I recommend reading the crappy instructions and then hold the brackets up. Front bar directions good rear bar is bad .
This kit is awesome. Everything lines up wonderfully for my Chevrolet 3500HD long bed. The guide that holds the bolts in place when feeding it through the frame of the truck is genius.......BUT.....please made the guide slightly longer for the rear bolts, (see photo) because mine fell in the frame while pushing it into position, and it took me 2 hours with a magnetic to fish it out of the truck's frame. Until the manufacturer makes them slightly longer, installers drill a hole in the end of the guide and insert a wire, in case it falls into the frame when feeding it into the frame. The two nuts and bolts over the gas truck will drive you nuts (long bed) if you are not a contortionist, lol, but this has nothing to due to this manufacture of this great kit. I also like the grey powder coat that goes with the B&M Patriot 5th wheel hitch.
Wow! Very stout and built solid! A far cry from the Reese 16k slider fifth wheel hitch! The slider and fifth wheel pin lock are very smooth.
Tech assistance with questions and ordering process was great. I will use etrailer again and will recommend them to others.
Unit is solid and well built, just as advertised. Assembly and installation was straightforward but prepare for lifting help as the base unit is quite heavy.
This is a replacement upgrade and I can't wait for weather to get better and go camping.
Everything lined up and fit as it should. The only suggestion I have for B&W is, they should provide flange nuts for the carriage bolts in the rails instead of regular nuts and washers. The space to work in during installation is really tight and trying to get a stack of washers on the bolts plus the nuts started is a challenge to say the least. Otherwise Everything has held up great and I would recommend it to others.
The B&W 327018K 5th wheel hitch is an excellent product and a really good value. After my 22 year old Reese 14K hitch broke (compromised the locking jaws) I was unsure what my options were so I called E-trailer. Fortunately I got Alex on the phone. He was extremely helpful and insightful. He told me about the B&W products and that is how I ended up with the 3270. I was concerned about the weight. As a 68 year old retiree, I was able to lift the Reese in/out of my truck but afraid the B&W would be too heavy. Alex told me they offered a product that clamped into 5th wheel jaws of the B&W. If I had a pulley system, a lift, or a tractor it was a piece of cake. I have the latter two. After I received the new hitch I assembled and installed in a couple of minutes. Great hitch in my 2015 Ram 2500 Short Bed. I had to contact B&W due to a concern with tightening the mounting bolts. The threads in the holes are painted, B&W said to run a tap through the threads. Also I was missing a few bolts on previously installed mounting kit. B&W sent me the whole bolt kit overnight for free. Awesome American company proudly supporting their products. I highly recommend their products. Also etrailer sent this hitch to me in a timely manner at a great price. I would use etrailer again. Thank you!
The hitch performed as advertised. It was easy to install, fitting my current rails perfectly. It is heavy and requires a minimum of two young strong people to install it. I was very pleased with eTrailer.
This is an excellent hitch, easy install on existing mounting rails! Etrailer had the best price by far and provided free shipping! I would highly recommend this company, the only issue I had was with UPS freight, who sat on my shipment for two full weeks before delivering it.

This is my first time using a fifth wheel hitch so I don’t have anything to compare it to but other people recommend it to me I haven’t had any issues with this well built hitch and I would not hesitate to recommend it to others.
The product is made extremely durable. Installation was not as easy as the etrailer video showed. Not because of the product, but because you definently want your truck up on a lift. Between the frame and truck bed was about 3 inches to work with. Squatting under the truck bed to bolt everything together was not an easy task for this old man. I did complete it with the help of my kids. Other than that, it bolted together as advertised. If you're going to do this yourself, do all the prep work before you start. The predrilled holes in the frame,make sure the threads are clean and clear of debris. Follow the instructions and good luck. Anybody need a slightly used truck cap?
Fantastic customer service from an incredible company. The B&W Components are of uncompromising quality. Perfect fit and finish. I’ve had 2 Reese hitches before this b&w and this puts them to shame I absolutely love the ease of hooking and unhooking and it is totally quiet it fit my rail system perfectly
Functionally, this is a rock solid 5th wheel hitch. It takes a bit to get the hang of using it, and it is very heavy to move, when you want to access more of the truck bed. I have yet to use the slider function and after using it for a year, I can’t see that I will ever need to.
Overall a very solid hitch. The dual jaw system I’ve never used before just had a slide bar, and after one year using this hitch, the jaws are very forgiving especially when the hitch is in a bind. Just pull the handle and the jaws release with ease.

Other than installing the nuts and washers underneath it was a pretty simple operation to install.
Excellent hitch! We go camping about every 4 to 6 weeks (year round) for 3 to 5 days at a time. This hitch is so easy to operate!

A little heavy for one person to install, i use a block and chain. quite and secure. smooth engage/disengagement to fifth wheel. definetly recommend
