Secure, Interlocking Two-Piece Jaw

A16 Two-Piece Interlocking Jaw

Unlike slide-bar models, the rounded, interlocking, two-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Three-Point Indicator System

A16 Color Indicator System

Get peace of mind with Curt's color-coded lock indicator. Just look at the indicator - either the one on the handle or the one on the hitch itself - to determine whether the jaw is in the correct position to uncouple (red), couple (yellow) or tow (green).

R16 Slider

Most often used on trucks with 6' and 6-1/2' beds, this roller helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a roller to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

Non-Binding Design

The round-tube design of this slider allows for relatively uninhibited movement of your fifth-wheel hitch. Because your hitch can glide smoothly and easily along the rods, there is less chance of binding.

With straight, flat contact points, as found with square-tube sliders, tension can build between the slider and the hitch when your truck and trailer are somewhat out of line or are on uneven ground. As a result, it can be difficult to properly activate the slider when your truck and trailer are not in a straight line.

With a round-tube slider, there is more give between the contacting surfaces, allowing better mobility of the hitch system. Fewer corners means less tension buildup. Activating a round-tube slider is easier, and operation as a whole is smoother.

Curt rebranded this fifth-wheel trailer hitch by changing its name from Q16 to A16 in 2016. All features and specifications remained the same.

The Curt A16 5th wheel w/ R16 slider is a great looking hitch. I received the hitch on May 11, 2023, replacing an older Reese 15K hitch with a slider lock bar. It was easy to finish the assembly and install. I immediately took my fifth wheel out, using the new hitch with the dual jaw locking system. The ride was amazing. The RV, which weighs approximately 10,000 pounds, loaded, did not buck or rattle, and responded perfectly to the turns, acceleration and deceleration with no issue. It was if there was nothing behind me.
The only issue with the Curt A16 is the height. At its lowest setting, the nose of the trailer was up too high. However, by raising the tongue of the RV to its highest setting, I was able to remedy most of that issue. I am looking forward to my trips this year with the new hitch!

So far it works great. Only pulled in a short distance and backed it up into my driveway. Make sure you have help lifting this. Very Very heavy. Directions were average but got the job done. Love the extra turning radius on my short bed F250. Make sure all the parts are there. The handle to release the king pin off the hitch was not in the packaging. The box that the hitch and slide came in were all in tacked and looked good. Emailed etrailer and within a few hours they sent were processing the order for the handle. Arrived in 2 days. That's great customer service.

2019 Chevrolet Silverado

I had originally ordered a 11604/11607 under bed gooseneck mount for my 2019 Silverado 2500HD, but found out during initial parts fitting that an under bed rib had been welded out of position on my truck, and the side rail brackets would not fit because of it. A phone call to Curt verified my finding and they suggested going to an in bed rail mount as an alternative. I called etrailer and spoke with Bailey B about my situation and she was very quick to understand what I needed to do. She helped me place an order for a 16411/16204 in bed rail mount kit. She then emailed me instructions and UPS shipping labels so I could return the parts I could not use. I received my new kit yesterday (one day early!!) and a quick look tells me I now have what I need. Bailey B was super helpful, and the exchange process was above and beyond my expectations. Count on me for future purchases. I had hand surgery a few days ago so it will be a while before I can install this hitch rail kit. If I can edit this review then, I'll add pictures. In the meantime, I'm going to have a spray in bed liner done and I'll be ready to go. Thanks again Bailey and etrailer!

Fantastic! I was able to install the entire kit by myself as soon as my hand allowed me to. Everything went together as it was supposed to. Ive only been able to tow my 5er a few times, but getting hitched up and unhitched is a breeze, even when the truck isnt straight on to the trailer. The hitch is totally silent, with no chucking at all. I was able to set it up so I had good cab clearance that I dont need to use the Turning Point feature on my pin box. I highly recommend this hitch.

2013 Chevrolet Silverado

Just installed my curt 5th wheel kit,all materials are heavy duty and comes with all hardware needed. Installation is straightforward for the average DIY . The only challenge in the installation of the kit is getting the right tool to torque the rail bolts. My truck is a 2013 chevy Silverado 2500HD. I would recommend this kit.

by: Ryan05/22/2024

Have not gotten to tow yet but everything went together fairly easy. One major disappointment was the shipping and the packages were dumped in my driveway.

by: Kevin L 09/14/2016

First off I just got done installing the hitch and I hooked on my 35ft fith wheel trailer and went for a ride with windows down sun roof open and not a single rattle , clank , or noise from the bed of the truck with this hitch . It was easy to assemble but I did have one spot where the paint got chipped on the slider during shipping so I just touched it up . Very satisfied with hitch it latches automatically when you back in to it and the slider part works like it should .

by: Gilberto03/27/2024

Looks like a received a returned hitch. All my hardware is missing. And still waiting on one box. The sliding rails. Starting off to a bad start.

GMC

Works great, I self performed the install on my 2018 GMC, the only issue I struggled with was on feeding the bolts through the frame with the provided threaded feeder wire on the front driverside, the trucks fuel tank location and brake lines mounted on the frame was a little challenging but worked through it. Thanks

by: Daimon C. 06/25/2019

Great product. Easy to assemble and fits perfectly in standard bed rails on 22” center. I have coupled up with it but have not towed with it yet. Have a short trip of about 400 miles coming up in about 2 weeks. So far I am very happy with the way it couples and slides. Unlike my old square tube slider this one is very smooth and the price was right . Ordered late afternoon on Thursday and it delivered on Monday. Great shipping time. I like everything about it especially the fact that when you uncouple it is automatically set to recouple.

by: Kevin06/06/2022

Upgraded from TT to fifth wheel. Once I learned the basic operation I have had mo problems with this hitch. Rides a little high because of adapter for factory puck adaptor but still fits my tonneau cover which I also bought from etrailer.

by: Ron C05/15/2017

The Curt system is really high quality. No issues at all putting the system in. One thing I do like is the position of the plate handle. It does not stick upward and is even with the plate. By designing the handle that way I can still cover my bed with my tonneau cover where other manufactures the handle was higher than the bed rail. The price was excellent and dealing with customer service was the same.

by: Gwen 05/08/2024

Very happy with this hitch. Installed it myself with the installation instructions and trailer videos. Mush easier to operate than my old hitch.

by: Jeff L10/01/2017
2012 Chevrolet Silverado

I feel that the installation video simplifies the process to much. Attaching the frame plates with the bolt fish wire was more difficult than the video showed. I am to blame for the first bolt. We started on the left side and fished the back bolt first. I did not check to see if the wire would go through both plate and bolt once threaded onto the bolt. I just placed the plate on the wire and then threaded the bolt onto the wire and pulled or tried to pull it through the frame hole. The wire was "bunched" on part of the bolt and would not feed through the frame and the plate holes. I stretched the wire to the point I thought I was going to lose the bolt in the frame. We ended up getting the bolt back out and using the other fish wire to feed this bolt through. We made sure we could fit both the plate and bolt through together before fishing it through the frame. Once we did one the other three went a lot easier but we only had one fish wire to use.
I had watched the installation video several times and played it while we were working. The video is good but it makes the process seem to easy.
I would like to see the video have more details about this process and have 4 fish wire instead of 2 or tell people you may want to have two more on hand for piece of mind.

After a year and around 7,000 miles pulling our fifth wheel camper, I love the hitch. I have not had to use the sliding portion but glad we have it if we need it

by: Jared08/08/2022

Great hitch and great value. Our trailer is 2000lbs on the hitch and 12000lbs loaded, so not a huge rig. My favorite feature on this hitch is the locking jaw system, it makes coupling and un-coupling very smooth. The slider (when rarely used) is very smooth as well. Most of our towing is in the Colorado mountains and I feel very safe using this hitch. Lastly, I know this is just aesthetics, but it's a nice looking hitch.

Installation of this product was easy, instructions were easy to follow. Rail kit works as it’s designed. Great Kit.

I am very pleased with my 5th wheel hitch.the install of the rails went well, and the assembly of the hitch itself also went well.first time towing 5th wheel no problem. I thought it was great that it was delivered promptly to my home no charge freight, that I believe saved me a lot money. I look forward to doing more towing this summer knowing the hitch is quality . Thank you for the follow up,I would recommend e trailer to anybody shopping for trailering equipment.

by: Rod04/22/2019

Last summer I made purchase of the A16 sliding 5th wheel hitch along with rails.the install took about six hours working by myself .following the enclosed instructions is important and saves time if you do it exactly as shown.I was very pleased with the delivery,it was prompt and no charge.that was great.the hitch is a slider which I think is important on a shortbed, could save damage to truck during maneuvers.my experience with etrailer has been really good and would recommend this company to anybody shopping for trailering equipment

We love our Curt A16 5th Wheel Hitch W/r16 Slider that we purchased last year through etrailer.com. This hitch is a top quality, well-made hitch. It's very easy to hitch and unhitch. We couldn't be happier.

by: Mike C.08/02/2017

This is my first fifth wheel. I have a short bed so I got the package deal with the hitch and the slider. Took me about 5 hrs to install with the custom mounting brackets and rails for my 2015 chevy 2500 HD. Everything went as the instructions said without any issues. I have only pulled my RV with it one time just to try it out. Felt very smooth no rattles or pops as I have herd with other hitches. So far I like it a lot.

by: Mike07/26/2019

Could not be happier. ...shipping arriving on time as scheduled, with other options available to your needs.
Shipping boxes little tore up but
exspected as it is heavy, but product boxes undamaged along with the items..
Assembly easy with directions included, and a video to help if needed. ..or staff to call to get you through.
Had existing rails to mount into, with the side mounting right in...head assembly fit into the slide without any issues. You will have to make your height adjustments depending on your needs for your application as I did..
First pull I made from last hitch was a 100% noticeable difference. Hook up and disconect with ease without any issues.
I will HIGHLY recommend etrailer for any needs to anyone they may have or products needing.
Thanks etrailer. ..you will be hearing from me down the road if needed for any of my RV needs

I recently installed the Q16 Slider Hitch on my 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500HD. I have used it a couple of times now pulling my 5th wheel and have had no issues with it at all. I used the slide feature twice and both times it worked very easily and had my truck and trailer at a 90 degree angle with plenty of room to spare. Great product, was delivered in a very timely manner with no issues.

by: James G.07/06/2017

Whew! Installing that Rail kit about kicked my butt! The reason why is all the trips I made from underneath the truck and back. The Rail kit is a very high Quality Product from Curt that fits perfectly in the bed of my truck. The hardware is also high quality. One downside is there isn't a lot of room to work as the gas tank on one side and the exhaust on the other side prevents easy access (gas tank in particular). It was very hard to get a wrench on the nuts unless you used a Gearwrench. After the install they are torqued to 110 ft-lb. The only way to do that was to put a 1 inch adapter on the torque wrench then put that in the open end of the gearwrench in the adapter. Then using a formula on line, convert that to what you have to ft-lb. Anyway It was worth it because I know I have a good product that will stand the test of time.

by: Bryan03/19/2018

Excellent product, perfect fit for my vehicle, arrived a couple days before it was supposed to. I did not want an "aftermarket" look, which is why I ordered a kit designed specifically for my vehicle. I did take the time to remove the heat shield to gain better access to the installation bolts. The biggest challenge was installing and tightening the bolts that go through the bed; there is not a lot of room between the trucks frame and the bed of the truck. The most challenging bolts were the ones on the driver side closest to the cab of the truck due to the placement of the gas tank. Trailer wiring was plug-and-play, hardest part was drilling the 2" hole in the side of my truck bed.

by: Mike C.07/31/2019

This is the second one of these that I ordered from e trailer. The first one I got at the same time as the fifth wheel hitch. I install on my 2015 Silverado 2500HD. I traded that Silverado for a 2018 Silverado 3500 Z71. Kept the hitch had to leave the rails. Great product and not bad to install. Took about 2 hours. If I trade again, I will get third.

  • Will Curt A16 5th Wheel Hitch Fit Factory Pucks on 2022 Ram 2500
  • Great question! You will be happy to know that you can utilize your Curt A16 Slider # C16521 with the puck system on your 2022 Ram 2500. All you need is the Adapter # C16022, which fits the long and short beds, to accomplish this. If you have the short bed then you'll still use the slider function but if you have the long bed you'll have enough clearance to keep the hitch in the regular towing configuration. For the long bed you can also remove the A16 Head # C16520 and install it directly

The short answer is no you do not have to use a slide type hitch. But you do need to have something in play that prevents contact between the cab of tow vehicle and the nose of the 5th wheel when in a turn. This clearance distance is not an issue with typical 5th wheel RV's and tow

  • If the jaws are coming open with your Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R16 Slider # C16521 what is often the case is that you may not be coupling with the trailer at the correct height, which would not allow the kingpin and hitch to properly engage. You want to make sure the skid plate is just barely above the 5th wheel hitch, by only about 1/2 inch. Proper height is the biggest issue when this happens (called "high-siding") and is the most common problem with not being able to couple

  • Will the Curt Kit # C16411-204 Fit a 2011 GMC Sierra 2500/3500 with a Gooseneck Hitch
  • Although the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit # C16411-204 is a fit for your 2011 GMC Sierra 2500/3500, if you already have a gooseneck trailer hitch installed it will not fit as they use the same bracket locations. If you let me know what gooseneck hitch you have I can see if we have an adapter that will allow you to utilize a 5th wheel hitch though.

  • 5th Wheel Install Kit and Slider Hitch Recommendation for 2015 GMC Sierra Duramax Diesel Short Box
  • A fixed 5th wheel hitch cannot be used in your 2015 GMC Sierra Duramax diesel with 6.5-ft box. Short bed trucks like yours must use a sliding 5th wheel hitch in order to have enough clearance for tight turns. In terms of an installation kit I recommend a custom type since this will reduce overall install time and eliminate the need to drill into the truck's frame for the under-bed brackets. These will mount to existing holes in the frame. I suggest the Curt # C16411-204. For a sliding

  • On 2016 and newer models there's weld nuts available for you to insert two more bolts in the brackets for the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Chevy/GMC # C16411-204. Since you have a 2012 you're good to go with just the two bolts you referenced. • Can Curt Fifth Wheel Rail Kit Work with Pullrite Superglide Fifth Wheel Hitch
  • If the Pullrite Superglide is an ISR style fifth wheel hitch which is designed for the rails that the Curt kit part # C16411-204 provides this will work. But there are two types of rails Pullrite designs their hitches for with one of them being for standard rails like what the Curt provides and the other only fits their rail designs. The easy way to know is if the name of the hitch from Pullrite has "ISR" at the end of the name. Or you can get me the number of the hitch and I can verify.

  • How to Tell if 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500 has OEM Rail Kit
  • The OEM rail kit/package that your 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500 could have came with would look like 5 pucks in the bed of the truck that a hitch would fit into. If you look into the bed of your truck and you don't see any mounting hole you wouldn't have it. Most likely you'd know if you did though since they are pretty noticeable. I attached a picture that shows what it looks like for you to check out as well. If you don't have the OEM rail kit the Curt kit part # C16411-204 is the correct

  • Can 5th Wheel Rails be Installed Over a Plastic Bed Liner on a 2012 GMC Sierra 2500HD
  • Since you have a plastic bed liner in your 2012 GMC Sierra 2500HD you will have to trim the liner in the foot print of the bed rails in order to install the kit, # C16411-204, in the truck. Plastic bed liners do not provide a stable surface which is why they have to be trimmed. All you will do is follow the instructions, linked for reference, to place the rails. Then trace around the rails, and then you can trim it with a rotary tool or similar. I recommend taking the liner out of the

  • 5th Wheel Hitch Installation Kit for 2018 GMC Sierra 2500HD Long Bed
