Curt A16 Hitch Will Not Close Around the Kingpin

Question:

I have a Curt A16 slider and the Jaws are closing around the king pin but when I start to pull forward the jaws pop back open

If the jaws are coming open with your Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R16 Slider # C16521 what is often the case is that you may not be coupling with the trailer at the correct height, which would not allow the kingpin and hitch to properly engage. You want to make sure the skid plate is just barely above the 5th wheel hitch, by only about 1/2 inch.

Proper height is the biggest issue when this happens (called "high-siding") and is the most common problem with not being able to couple properly.
