Curt A16 vs A20 5th Wheel Hitch for 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD With Puck System

Question:

I have a follow-up question to Conner L. response regarding the Curt Hitch. I plan to tow a 2021 Grand Design Solitude S-Class 2930RL fifth wheel. The Specs are UVW of 11,442 lbs. and GVWR of 15,000 lbs. which I won/t reach. Is the Curt A16 acceptable or should I look at the A20 instead? Also, what is the weight difference between the hitches and rail adapters. I have the following for the A16 head at 65 lbs., base at 128 lbs. and rail adaptor at 60 lbs.. How does this compare with the A20?

In regards to the Curt A16 Slider 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16521 with Adapter Rails for Curt 5th Wheel Hitch part # C88KR, the weight capacity is 16,000 lbs. Therefore, so long as the trailer does not exceed this you'll be fine. If you want to opt for a higher capacity which allows for more room for error then you can use the Curt A20 Slider 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16541 which has a 20,000 lb capacity. The A20 weighs about 30 lbs more than the A16.

I recommend the A20 as the weight increase is marginal and it allows for you to upgrade trailers in the future.
