First, on the # 118411 wiring harness you installed on your 2005 Volvo XC90 check the 4-Way connector with a circuit tester like, like part # PTW2993, to make sure the 4-Way is working correctly. Good news! According to the directions of the Draw-Tite Class III 2 inch trailer hitch # 75152, you will not be required to trim or modify any part of your 2014 Volvo XC90's bumper.

You might need to use a trim panel removal tool like our part # ALL648544 to get the connector disconnected from your vehicle body on your 2009 Volvo XC90. A flathead screwdriver might work as well.

From my research it looks like the first generation of the Volvo XC90 runs from 2002 - present (2014) with a minor facelift in 2007. The installation process is same as either the 2004 or 2007 for your 2006 Volvo.

You won't need to cut the bumper fascia to install a 7-way. We used a # 18136 no-drill bracket that attaches to the hitch crossbar using a pipe clamp. Since the Curt # C53HR hitch crossbar is concealed behind the bumper, the # 18136 bracket can be installed to the underside of the hitch crossbar with the L-bracket for the 7-way extending upward at a 90° angle. The Curt Trailer Hitch, # 13559, on the 2004 Volvo XC90 will not interfere with the spare tire. The spare tire is removed before the hitch is installed to allow easier access to the mounting locations on the vehicles frame. After the hitch is installed then the spare tire can be put back in place.
The installation video of the hitch on the 2010 Volvo XC90 did not show them removing the spare tire or reinstalling it after installation.

The best path is usually via a grommet up under your dash on your 2011 Volvo XC90. You may find it easier to remove that grommet by starting under the hood. If there isn't a grommet available you will need to drill a small hole. But be very careful not to drill through anything on the other side.

Using a wire from the PCM of the vehicle is not the normal way to get the brake signal circuit for a brake controller install. What we recommend is using a circuit tester liker part # PTW2993 to test all of the wires of the brake pedal switch and then see which one only has voltage when the brakes are applied. You'd want to use that circuit.

Usually within the rear cargo area of a vehicle there will be access holes, sometimes filled with a rubber grommet, through which you can route wiring. From the research I did it is possible that on your 2011 Volvo XC90, that the brake output pin located in the 5:00 position, if looking at the 7-Way, is actually connected to a dedicate brake light circuit. In order to install an aftermarket controller, you will need to follow these steps:

For the Prodigy RF # TK94FR two work the only functions that need to be active are the lighting circuits and the 12 volt circuit. The 12 volt circuit actually powers the RF so it must be installed. To make it active you will run the 12 volt circuit wire from the back of your new 7-Way connector, under the vehicle using about 20 feet of # 10-1-1 wire, and into the engine compartment near the battery *unless the vehicle battery is located elsewhere then you would run it to that location instead).
