It does not route then back to the battery using that same circuit. The black wire of the brake controller does need to run to the positive post of the vehicle battery to power the controller. There doesn't need to be a breaker between the positive and negative wires of the switch of the Curt Breakaway Kit part # C52040. It would be possible to use a running light circuit to run to the charge wire of this kit and there would be a light charge that would occur but the problem is that the running light circuit typically only carries a fraction of the amperage compared to the 12 volt accessory circuit with this being partially due to the much lower gauge wire used for this circuit.... view full answer...
