How To Install a Brake Controller On a 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser
Question:
I am trying to connect a 2 axle trailer brake controller to my 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser. Is it the same as the 2015 Land Cruiser “how to” on your website? Please confirm the harness and controller I need to make it work. Thank you for your help!!

The trailer brake controller I recommend for a 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser is the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller part # TK90160 because it has most of the same features as other top tier options like a proportional design and boost settings but without all the extra bells and whistles that increase price. If you have a factory brake controller port which would be located underneath and left of the steering column, taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal then you will also need the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers part # 3040-P.
If you don't have the factory brake controller port then you will need to hardware the controller. Please note, most models with the factory 7-way trailer connector have the factory brake controller but if you don't have the factory 7-way trailer connector then odds are you don't have the factory brake controller either. If you don't have a factory 7-way trailer connector just let me know and I will get you setup but most do.
