  • Is Spacer Included With Curt 13018 Hitch Needed When Installing on 2001 Mercedes-Benz ML350
  • I spoke with my contact in the engineering department at Curt, who tells me that by 'outboard mounted spare tire', they mean that if the vehicle's spare tire carrier is bolted to the bumper beam, the spacer plate is needed. If it's bolted elsewhere, the spacer will not be needed. If you'll be towing with the hitch, you'll also need a trailer wiring harness like # C59496, a ball mount like # 2753 and a trailer ball like # 19260 for a 1-7/8 inch or # 63845 for a 2 inch ball.

  • Installing the Tekonsha Primus IQ # TK90160 on a 2005 Mercedes-Benz ML500
  • I can help you with the installation of the Tekonsha Primus IQ # TK90160 on your 2005 Mercedes-Benz ML500 but unfortunately, I don't know which wires you will be splicing to under your dash. To figure out what wires you need to use simply take a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 and test the wires (there may be a bundle) under the driver's side dash. Look for a constant 12V of power, a wire that only gets hot when the brake pedal is pressed, a wire that outputs voltage to the 7-Way at...

  • Removing Rear Bumper To Install Curt Trailer Hitch # 13342 on 2007 Mercedes ML350
  • I did some research on the internet and found that some of the bolts may be behind plastic tabs on your 2007 Mercedes-Benz ML350. The rear bumper may also have safety cables attached to the rear mud flaps. You will also have to remove a center fascia bracket that is pictured in the instructions. When you slide the rear bumper off, it will need to be slid straight back, as there are tabs that the bumper slides into to attach to the vehicle. I have linked instructions for the Curt Trailer...

  • How to Disengage Electric Boat Trailer Brakes for Backing Up Trailer with 2011 Mercedes-Benz ML-350
  • If your boat trailer uses electric brakes such as # 23-469 it is a good idea to unplug the trailer connector from the ML-350 before you back the trailer up to launch your boat. Boat trailers are more and more often being fitted with electric brakes since they are less expensive than hydraulic brakes, but just the same electricity and water are not the best of friends. You can also simply unplug your trailer brake controller or turn its power setting down to zero when you need to back up...

  • Can All Trailer Lights Be Grounded to a Single Point
  • Yes, you can tie all of the ground wires for your trailer lights to a single point of connection. We actually recommend this as it can sometimes cut down on the amount of issues and the time it takes to troubleshoot faulty lights. Please be sure that the ground you are using is suitable which means it is a bare metal surface. If you need any lights or wiring connectors for your trailer then take a look at the attached selection I have included for you which has many options for you to...

  • Which Direction Should Star Wheel of Brake Assembly Move to Tighten Brakes
  • The adjustment star on brake assemblies like the # AKUBRK-35-D needs to turn counter-clockwise to expand the shoes so you'd need to click the star "up" to tighten the brakes or "down" to loosen them as you'd view them from the back of the assemblies. You will adjust the brakes using that wheel until there is a slight but constant drag of the shoe pads on the drum. I have included a link to a video and at about the 4:39 mark our installed begins adjusting the brakes.

You just have to temporarily remove the plastic fascia that covers the actual metal bumper and other components. • Should Orange Dot on Phone Screen Always Have Some Blue Around it with Curt Echo
  • I reached out to my contact at Curt regarding your Echo Brake Controller # C51180 and he said what you are seeing is actually completely normal. Because of the sensitivity on the accelerometer you're most likely always going to have a bit of blue around the orange circle and this won't have a negative impact once the trailer is hooked up. Remember that the Echo isn't technically activated by the brake pedal but by the vehicle's deceleration - so any time you slow down during travel it's...

  • Installing Vehicle to Vehicle Tail Light Converter # 118158 on Trailer w/Separate Brake/Turn Lights
  • What the vehicle to vehicle (or vehicle to trailer in this case) does is to take the combined turn and brake signals on a vehicle trailer connector and separates them out so the turn signals and brake lights are separate. When using this converter on a trailer like you want to, you would not have to use diodes. I have included a picture that shows how it would wire up. Essentially you would mount this converter on the trailer. The trailer would need a regular 4-Way flat connector like...

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring Harness for 2012 Mercedes-Benz ML350 Blue TEC
  • Curt classifies the difficulty level of the installation as 'moderate'. They tell me that a professional installer should be able to complete the installation in roughly 40 minutes to an hour. For a do-it-yourselfer, the install time will depend on you mechanical ability. To determine if the install is something you would feel comfortable attempting, take a look at the install instructions that I have linked for you. None of our suppliers offer a trailer wiring harness that is compatible...

  • Installing Draw-Tite Class III Trailer Hitch # 75087 on 1998 Mercedes-Benz ML320
  • I have looked over the instructions, and despite the 10 out of 10 installation difficulty rating, I believe that if you have average mechanical ability, you should be able to complete the install without any problems. On a 1998 model, it appears that there are only 4 bolts holding the bumper fascia in place. Once those are removed, you can pull off the bumper fascia. The hitch itself is held in place by 4 bolts that will thread into nuts that have been welded behind the bumper structure....
