Curt is the only hitch manufacturer that I am aware of that has a strap requirement on some of their trailer hitches. Draw-Tite does not have that requirement. The purpose of the strap is to reduce some of the stress on the hitch when using hitch mounted accessories such as a bike rack or cargo carrier. When there is an option we tend to recommend a hitch that does not require the strap.

To access the wires that supply power to the taillights at the rear of the 2011 Hyundai Tuscon, you will need to remove two Phillips head screws that hold the taillight assemblies in place, see photo link. After the screws are removed, carefully work the taillight assembly straight out from the rear of the vehicle, wiggling it slightly side to side.
