  • Does Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch for 2017 Hyundai Tucson Require Stabilization Strap Like the Curt Hitch
  • Curt is the only hitch manufacturer that I am aware of that has a strap requirement on some of their trailer hitches. Draw-Tite does not have that requirement. The purpose of the strap is to reduce some of the stress on the hitch when using hitch mounted accessories such as a bike rack or cargo carrier. When there is an option we tend to recommend a hitch that does not require the strap. The strap in question is # 18050 and I have linked a video showing how it works.

  • How to Access the Taillight Wiring on the 2011 Hyundai Tucson for Installing a 5-Way Trailer Harness
  • To access the wires that supply power to the taillights at the rear of the 2011 Hyundai Tuscon, you will need to remove two Phillips head screws that hold the taillight assemblies in place, see photo link. After the screws are removed, carefully work the taillight assembly straight out from the rear of the vehicle, wiggling it slightly side to side. Once you have the tail light assembly pulled away from the vehicle you will be able to access the wiring connectors for installing a 4-Way...

  • How To Install Trailer Lights On A Trailer Without Tail Lights
  • The Roadmaster Deluxe Magnetic Tow Lights part # RM-2120 you are referring to are designed to be placed on the rear of the vehicle in a flat tow situation. If you are wanting to tow a trailer with your 2017 Hyundai Tucson, then you will want the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # 118501 as this will allow you to hook up your vehicle's tail lights to your trailer tail lights while towing. It is also a plug and play connection therefore you will not need...

  • Installing a Brake Controller from Scratch on a 2006 Hyundai Tucson
  • In order to install a brake controller, you will first need to install a 4-Way wiring harness if your 2006 Hyundai Tucson does not already have one. You can then install the 4- and 7-Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7. For a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, # 90885. I have included a link to the installation details below. The correct 4-Way harness is the Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 118397. This is a T-one style connector that plugs in line...

  • Can I Run the 12 V Power for the Tekonsha T One Wiring Harness Inside My 2011 Hyundai Tuscon?
  • We get this question commonly and the answer is yes and no. You can run the powerline however you want so long as it gets to the battery on your 2011 Hyundai Tucson. The Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector item # 118501 needs a dedicated 12 volt power source to function correctly. You can not run this harness to an interior fuse box. That will damage the ModuLite and eventually fry your fuses.

  • Installation Of Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring # 118501 On My 2011 Hyundai Tucson
  • The item you selected, Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, part # 118501, is designed to protect the vehicle wiring as it draws power directly from the vehicle battery. I cannot recommend attaching the power wire to the vehicle tail light harness as it could possibly overload the circuit and/or damage the vehicle wiring. You will want to find a rubber grommet on the floor of the rear cargo area. Then remove the grommet and cut a slice in the grommet to feed the power wire through. You...

  • What Does the Red Wire on the Prodigy P2 Controller Wring Harness Connect to on the Vehicle
  • Yes, you need to connect the red wire on the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, # 90885, to the brake light switch of your 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe. The brake controller needs the signal from the brake light switch to tell the controller to activate the trailer brakes. The red wire will have to connected to the cold side of the brake light switch. To find this use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 on the switch. Once wiring is located, find the wire that has power only when the brake pedal is being...

  • Can Converter Box of Tekonsha Kit # 118501 be Bypassed
  • You'll have to replace the # 118501 as bypassing the converter box would not allow the kit to work. The converter box is designed to interpret the taillight wiring circuits of your vehicle and then draw the power needed for the trailer wiring from the battery of your tow vehicle. Without the box it would not function.

  • Tips on Routing the Power Wire for Circuit Protected T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness
  • The best way to run the power wire to the battery on Curt Circuit Protected T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness, # C56150, is basically what is easiest for you while adhering to a couple of important safety tips. First, it is easiest to route the wire under the vehicle rather than through the inside. If you were to route the wire inside the vehicle, you would have to go to a lot of trouble removing trim panels or other components, in order to properly conceal the wire. Routing it under the...

  • We have not yet have the chance to install the Kat's Heaters Custom Fit Engine Block Heater part # KH11812 on a 2014 Hyundai Tucson with the 2.4L I4 engine so I don't have any exact steps or photos for you unfortunately. The position is indicated as "FL". It would be a good idea to remove the belly pan if you will...

  • Installing T-One Harness # 118501 on 2013 Hyundai Tucson
  • The instructions included with the # 118501 wiring harness for your 2013 Tucson are a bit on the vague side. The procedure is different from the Santa Fe harness you mentioned. The first step in the install involves removing the tail light assemblies (as if you were changing a burned out taillight bulb). Disconnect the manufacturers wiring harness from the rear of the assemblies. You will then need to remove the spare tire cover (cargo area floor) and threshold. Then, locate and remove...

  • Can 12V Feed For Powered Taillight Converter Be Attached to Power Source Other Than the Battery
  • When installing a powered taillight converter like # C89KR, Curt doesn't recommend attaching that 12V power feed to anything other than the positive battery terminal, so I can't recommend anything that would contradict the manufacturer's advice. Drawing the power directly from the battery serves to isolate the tow vehicle's sensitive electronics from any short circuits that might occur in the trailer wiring. Connecting the converter's power feed anywhere other than the battery or where...

  • To install the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118812 you were looking at on your 2021 Hyundai Tuscon you will need to route the power wire up to the positive terminal of your battery with the included fuse. These harness are tested with a dedicated circuit, and wiring it into an existing circuit can overload that circuit whenever the outlet is used and damage the modu-lite box which would not be covered by the warranty. I included a video of...
