What Does the Red Wire on the Prodigy P2 Controller Wring Harness Connect to on the Vehicle
Question:
I have a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe SE with the factory prep trailer wiring. I just installed the Curt Tow Hitch # C13153, the Curt 4-way wiring harness #C56151, and a 4 way to 7 way Hopkins adapter # 37185. So now when I plug my trailer 7 way in I have turn signals, lights, and brake lights on my trailer. Now I am ready to install my Prodigy P2 Brake Controller. My brake controller has a blue wire for the brake controller, a black wire for the 12v power, and a white ground wire. It also has a red wire for the brake lights. My question is do I need to connect the red brake light wire on my brake controller since I already have functioning brake lights on my trailer?

Yes, you need to connect the red wire on the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, # 90885, to the brake light switch of your 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe. The brake controller needs the signal from the brake light switch to tell the controller to activate the trailer brakes.
The red wire will have to connected to the cold side of the brake light switch. To find this use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 on the switch. Once wiring is located, find the wire that has power only when the brake pedal is being pressed.
