It's totally normal to splice on some extra wire to the 12 Volt Outlet Kit # RM-9332 to get it to the battery so I would just use some 16 AWG # 16-1-1 and a butt connector # DW05744-10 instead of using the extension # RM-9331. I typically use a self-tapping screw and shoot it right into some bare metal in the engine compartment. The best way to determine what functions each of those wires on your 2008 Hummer H3 carries is to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2992 and check to see what each wire does. I tried looking up what functions they might carry but the only thing that seemed to be consistent is that the orange wire has constant 12V power to it.
