There's a few things that you'll need to check in order to get the right ball mount for your setup. First you'll want to check the coupler size of the trailer. With the boat/trailer weighing in round 5,000lbs you likely have a 2" ball coupler.

That is something I have never heard of. I recommend looking around for a part number or sticker on that hitch before you tow with it to verify what it's capacity is. Sounds like you need an extended ball mount. The Hidden Hitch Ball Mount item # 80232 you were looking at would definitely give you plenty of turning clearance. It measures 15-3/4" from center of hitch pin hole to center of ball hole and has a 6,000 lbs capacity.

In order to find the correct rise/drop ball mount for your setup you'll also want to measure from the ground to the top of the Ram's trailer hitch receiver tube opening. Assuming you are in that 9-10" range you can use the Draw-Tite Ball Mount # 80248. This has a 9-3/4" rise and a gross towing weight of 3,500 lbs which would be perfect for your trailer. You will also need # C40002 for a 1-7/8" ball or # 63845 for a 2" ball.

Without knowing the exact weights for your trailer and assuming you have a 2" receiver we do have the Gen-Y Hitch Extender # GY89SR. The extender is going to add 14" of length to your ball mount and with the 13" you have for clearance on the trailer this should allow you to clear your tailgate. Hey Jonathan, congrats on the new truck. The 7" drop should be enough, but it is hard to say for sure without knowing what trailer you will be pulling. The 7" drop will get your ball height at 17" or 18" (we measure from the upper inside edge of the receiver which is more like 25"). Most trailers will have a coupler height of around 17" or 18", so the # BWTS20066BMP ball mount should get you to where you are definitely close enough to level. Hey Jerry that's kind of hard to say without some dimensions but I can still help. Basically you need to measure from the top of your hitch opening down to the ground and then get from the bottom of the coupler lip on your trailer down to the ground. The difference between the two dimensions is the rise/drop you'd need.

Robert, we don't have tow bumpers for your 2002 Dodge 2500 Roadtrek 170, unfortunately. What you could do instead is install a hitch like the Multi-Fit Motor Home Trailer Hitch # 82201 and slap a ball mount in there # DT49MR and you'd be all set.

As long as you're within 1" of being level you'll be just fine.
I will say that in your case I'd recommend picking up a 0 drop ball mount like the Flint Hill Goods Tri-Ball Mount # FHG62VR so you're 1" above what you need rather than 1" below. Reason being that when you couple up to the trailer your vehicle ball mount will naturally squat just a little so if you're 1" above what you need, it will help level things out a little once everything is hooked up. view full answer...

The biggest factor in choosing the correct trailer for hauling your adult tricycles is figuring out how much width you need for your trailer floor. For example, the Detail K2 Mighty Multi A-Frame Utility Trailer # K2MMT5X7 bed measures 88" long x 52" wide so if that will fit both the bikes side-by-side (one facing forwards and one facing backwards) then this trailer will work for you!

I have included a dimensional drawing for the Reese Goose Box # RP85FR which will help you determine both the height and length from the ball mount center to where your tonneau cover rails are clamped. I checked your towing capacity in the owner's manual of your 2013 Kia Sorento and you have a 350lb towing capacity. There is no option to increase that capacity, so you need to make sure your boat trailer is not exceeding 350lbs of tongue weight, if it is, you'll need to use a different tow vehicle with a higher towing capacity. You'll also want to see what the tongue weight rating of your hitch is, and go with the lowest rating between the hitch, ball mount, and vehicle.

I wouldn't worry about adding anything to the front. The only reason you would want to add the Coil SumoSprings item # CSS-1125 to the front of your 2018 Crosstrek is if you had a front hitch or weight pushing down directly on your front axle.

The Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control # FA92-00-0450 has a tongue weight range of 200lbs - 450lbs so you'd be right around the middle of the capacity when loaded, making this a great choice. This doesn't come with a hitch ball so you'll need either a 2" ball # 40038 or 2-5/16" hitch ball # C40005 depending on your coupler size.
