The Kuat Sherpa 2.0 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # SH12G has hooks that would interfere with fenders since they have to sit right up against the forks. The Kuat Transfer V2 for 2 bikes # KU84FR and 1 bike # KU64FR would both have the same issues. Although we didn't have a chance to install the Curt Trailer Hitch # C11412 that you currently own on a 2015 Volkswagen Golf GTI, I can say that we installed the EcoHitch # 306-X7310 that has a 1-1/4" receiver and found that from the ground to the top of the inside of the receiver it measures 12".

The 1990 VW Golf and the 2011 Golf use different Q Clips and crossbar lengths so the old parts will not work on the newer vehicle. The Yakima Q-Clips have been discontinued completely so you will need a completely new roof rack for your 2011.
