Availability of Receiver Hitch for 2012 Volkswagen Golf R
Question:
Will this hitch work with a 2012 Golf R? On the Golf R the assembly that the M12 bolt goes through the forward bolts seem to be taller and have a larger rubber donuts.

I spoke with my contact at Draw-Tite, and was told that the Golf R model was not tested for hitch fits. My contact could neither confirm nor deny that the hitch would fit that vehicle.
I spoke with Curt about their # C11000, and was told that it will not fit the R model.
If you were wanting to use the hitch as a mount for a bike rack, Thule and Yakima both have bike racks that are a confirmed fit for the R model. To see the compatible models, click the provided link.
Of the available racks, I highly recommend the Thule OutWay which is available in a 2 bike model as # TH45JV or a 3 bike model as # TH56BV. Rather than the 6 straps and buckles that need to be adjusted each time the rack is removed, the OutWay uses only 2 rubber-coated straps that allow the rack to be installed or removed in seconds. The rack also features an integrated cable lock for both the rack and the bikes to deter theft.
To carry women's bikes or bikes with sharply angled top tubes or step-through frames, using a frame adapter like part # TH982XT is recommended. The adapter spans the distance between the seat post and the handle bar gooseneck, and provides a level attachment point to the bike rack so the bike has greater ground clearance and is not carried at an angle.
