Picking up the correct weight distribution system for your needs isn't as difficult as you might think. Your 6k Dexter axles will have hubs on them that accept a 1/2 inch lug like # CE11051. For the Americana Aluminum HWT Series S5 Trailer Wheel, # AM22658HWTB, I recommend Americana Trailer Wheel Lug Nut, # AM90049. A standard nut would be too shallow for the wheel and you would not be able to get it torqued down correctly.

That is pretty odd as other than the read wire shown in your picture the 7-way connector on your 2004 Dodge Dakota does appear to be a factory install. If it is a factory install the only place the trailer brake controller port would be is near the white box shown in your picture and there is not another location it would be. I would look around up there and make sure it isn't tucked up out of sight for some reason.
