You are correct that using a hitch extender such as the #e88YR will reduce the hitch's total tongue weight capacity by 50%, so if your daughter's hitch normally supports 350 lbs TW, with the adapter it can support only 175 lbs.
I contacted Yakima in regard to using a hitch extender off of a swinging arm such as the the Yakima BackSwing Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks - 2" Hitches # Y02483, and they are strongly against using it this way. Although the arm is rated to support up... view full answer...

Any trailer hitch whose receiver tube is positioned below a vehicle's rear bumper is going to reduce ground clearance and approach angle to some degree. The actual clearance lost depends on many factors including wheel/tire size, passenger and cargo load in the vehicle and the general condition of the suspension. On a newer vehicle like your 2016 Subaru Crosstrek it is not too likely that your suspension is sagging but this does matter on older vehicles.

The thickness of the steel that the Curt safety chain loop part # C81288 uses is 9/16 of an inch. The chain you have would have to pass through a 5/8 inch opening to fit into 7/8 inch wide pocket so a 1/4 inch diameter chain would easily work with this. Their answer has always been that there is something that blocks the hitch being installed that isn't on the regular model Crosstrek's. We have had multiple reviews and comments from customer's over the years backing this statement up.

The RockyMounts MonoRail Solo, part # RKY10007, can handle e-bikes up to 60 pounds. So, it will be able to handle your e-bike perfectly well.
The reason the expert stated it's "not for you if you need to carry an extra-heavy electric bike" is because some e-bikes can weigh all the way up to 75 pounds. We have carriers that can handle this much, but the MonoRail Solo isn't one of them.
Still, this rack will be great for your bike. I've linked to a video review of this rack for you to look at. view full answer...
