If you are using the Wiring Kit # 5506 to install the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885 then you will want to use the 30A breaker on the power wire for the brake controller.
I have attached a helpful article and a picture that you can use for the installation. view full answer...
If your 2007 Jeep Commander came with the factory tow package then it should have a factory 7-Way trailer connector at the back of the vehicle. You would follow this connector back to where it plugs in and that is where you would install # 118381. If there is no trailer connector on your Commander then # 118381 will not work. You would need to use # 118408 instead. I have linked the instructions and a video showing installation for you. Neither harness plugs into the back up sensor connector.

Since you already have a brake controller installed on your 2006 Jeep Commander, you would just need the brake controller, in this case, the Tekonsha P3, # 90195. It comes with the blunt cut wires that will need to be spliced into the existing wiring used by your current brake controller.
Just in case the wire colors are different on the other brake controller, the P3 wires are: White=ground, Black=power, Red=Stoplight, Blue=electric brakes.
I have included a link to the installation... view full answer...
Unfortunately, vehicle manufacturers have no color code or pattern that they must stick to. So, it's quite common for wiring to be different colors, even sometimes within the same model and model year. So, the best way to determine the correct wire is by function using a light tester like # PTW2993.
When installing a trailer brake controller, like the Prodigy P2 # 90885 in the video you mentioned, the red wire from the controller needs to be connected to the cold side of the stop light... view full answer...

The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector Item # C55381 is not going to work on your 2006 Jeep Commander if you don't have the tow package wiring activated. Once activated it will work as it is designed to. view full answer...
The core of transmission cooler # D13503 won't hold a lot of fluid and it depends on how much hose is used so you just have to perform the installation and then check the level and add fluid as needed. Be sure to use the correct fluid for your vehicle (check the owners manual or the fill location) because some vehicle transmissions are very sensitive regarding the fluid used. view full answer...
Are you wondering what benefit you'd get from installing a transmission cooler?
Depending on the engine size of your Commander and the frontal area of the trailer, the towing capacity of your Commander can range from 3500 lbs for the 3.7L up to 7200 lbs for the 5.7L engine according to what I read in the owner's manual.
If you're above half the towing capacity, I'd give serious thought to installing a transmission cooler and would consider it extremely important if you're towing in hilly... view full answer...
Yes, you can install the Brake Controller 7 & 4 Way Installation Kit, item # ETBC7, on your Commander as long as you install a 4-Way trailer connector first. The 4-Way wiring harness for your 2007 Commander is the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, item # 118408, and will be installed inline with the vehicles taillight connectors.
Once you have the 4-way connector installed you will need to wire a brake controller, I would recommend the Prodigy, item # 90885, and the # ETBC7 kit. The blue wire... view full answer...
The Custom Mounting Brackets # K284104 are a little different than the majority of the other mounting brackets that Detail K2 offers. This kit actually wedges between parts of the frame on your 2006 Jeep Commander. Once the mounting brackets are in place then you can install the Detail K2 Storm II Snowplow # K2STOR8422.
I have attached a photo from the instructions showing how it installs. view full answer...
Generally speaking, a converter box will usually fail if there is a short somewhere in your trailer's wiring or on the wiring harness itself, which can occur during installation. A faulty or inadequate ground connection will not generally cause a short of the converter box however, may cause the lights to act erratically.
Per manufacturer's recommendation, a ground wire must be attached to the frame of the vehicle on a bare metal surface. In most cases using the body is a sufficient grounding... view full answer...
A brake controller will have no effect on your vehicle's Electronic Sway Control and the Electronic Stability Program. Any brake controller will work with your vehicle and will need to be hardwired in to the existing wiring on the vehicle.
If your vehicle does not already have a 4-pole wiring harness located a the back of your vehicle, you would need to purchase the following parts: A T-Connector part number 118408, a Brake Controller Installation Kit, part number ETBC7, and a brake controller.... view full answer...
Brake controllers are not vehicle specific, so you will be able to use the Tekonsha Prodigy, # 90885 on your 2010 Jeep Commander.
To install a brake controller, you will need to do a little hard-wiring. The only wire Jeep provides to install a brake controller is the electric brake output wire that goes back to the 7-Way trailer connector. This wire is probably a light green wire that is behind the in-cab fuse box. It will connect to the blue wire on the brake controller.
You will still... view full answer...
To install the Curt front mount hitch receiver, part # C31056 on a 2006 Jeep Commander there isn't any trimming of the fascia. However, you do need to remove the tow hooks if your Jeep has them. In order to remove the tow hooks the grill and front bumper cover must be removed during the install and then reattached afterwards and some holes will be drilled in the Jeep's frame to mount the hitch.
If you don't have the front tow hooks this won't be necssary but instead you will need to... view full answer...

The terminal itself in Pollak RV-Style Trailer End Trailer Connector, # PK12706, is not red but it is labeled, 5 RED, on the inside of the connector. It would be difficult to see in the video, linked for reference, but I have taken a more detailed picture that illustrates what it will look like on the actual part. The diagram on the product page uses the most common wiring colors. Red is not usually used but on this connector, it is labeled RED, for the left turn and brake light signal.... view full answer...
The 2008 Jeep Commander doesn't have the plug under the dash for a plug and play brake controller installation, so you'll need to hard wire the brake controller.
There are two possible installation scenarios:
If the Commander has the OEM 7-Way trailer connector at the rear of the vehicle, Jeep will have ran the brake controller output wire from the 7-way to the underside of the dash. Look for a coiled up light green wire. The controller itself would wire to the vehicle using our # 5506... view full answer...
