Replacing an Exisiting Brake Controller with a Tekonsha P3 on a 2006 Jeep Commander

Question:

I currently have a Reese Compact which was installed in my 2006 Jeep Commander by our local dealer. Im towing a Jayco 21m and believe a proportional controller would be better suited. Im looking at ordering a Tekonsha P3 controller and see that it comes with a universal harness. Would this be all I need to have the dealer swap out the Reese for the P3? Thanks for the great website and service!

Since you already have a brake controller installed on your 2006 Jeep Commander, you would just need the brake controller, in this case, the Tekonsha P3, # 90195. It comes with the blunt cut wires that will need to be spliced into the existing wiring used by your current brake controller.

Just in case the wire colors are different on the other brake controller, the P3 wires are: White=ground, Black=power, Red=Stoplight, Blue=electric brakes.
