Neither Roadmaster nor Blue Ox have a frame mounted base plate option for your 1980 Jeep CJ-7, but there is a bolt-on base plate bracket kit, part # BX88230 which will require that the bumper be modified and strengthened in order to use the brackets. By some miracle I was able to locate the owner's manual for a 1985 Jeep CJ7! For models with a manual transmission and model 300 transfer case follow these procedures to get the vehicle ready for flat towing:
1) Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position to unlock the steering wheel.
