Hitch Bike Rack For Oversized Spare On 1980 Jeep CJ

Ive got a jeep cj-7/1980. big spare tire on back. will rack work/does it extend out from hitch far enough to get past spare? thanks!

With the wider spare tire you have, or any spare tire on the back of a Jeep, clearance is always a concern. With that being said the Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack Part # S64650, measures from the hitch pin hole to the edge of the wheel hoop closest to the vehicle right at 8". There is an option that offers more clearance, and I prefer the function of it better!

The Hollywood Racks Trail Rider Part # HR200Z provides 12.5" from the hitch pin hole to the closest wheel hoop on the rack. The fold down mast, moves way from the vehicle, allow more clearance and less hassle when loading on vehicles that have a rear mounted spare tire.

I do advise measuring your 1980 Jeep CJ-7 from the center of the hitch pin hole, to the outer portion of the oversized spare to get that exact distance needed to clear.
