Wiring Roadmaster Diode Kit # RM-154 on a 1983 Jeep CJ-7
Question:
Trying to figure out where to splice in the four diodes on by 83 CJ7. There are two main bulbs, One that lights for reverse at top and one that lights with brake, turn AND running lights first notch on headlight switch. There are green and white wires running to this combo bulb and then a single jumper wire from the white that goes to a small marker bulb along the outside of the housing. Since the instructions say to splice one diode into the right turn and brake and one diode into the tail light, not sure what to do since the same bulb lights for all three purposes.

Expert Reply:
What you have on your 1983 Jeep CJ-7 is a combined, 2-wire system. The brake, turn, and taillights may all use the same bulb, but they are on separate circuits. This means that if you use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 if needed and test the wires to the taillight you will find the following: one wire that carries stop and turn and one wire that carries taillight functions.
I have included a link to a video that might help showing a typical diode kit installation. Please note that the wire colors will most likely be different on your CJ-7.
