The Curt Breakaway Battery Charger part # C52025 only charges the breakaway battery while the trailer is plugged into the vehicle and the vehicle's battery charge line circuit is active (it could be constant on or keyed with the ignition). Once the trailer is connected and the circuit is active, the charger will provide a trickle charge to the breakaway battery. There is a shutoff feature built-in to prevent overcharging.

You are correct. The Curt trailer hitch # 13518 is a bolt-on installation and no drilling is required. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you. For running the power wire of the Prodigy RF brake controller part # TK94FR you'll need 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 which is sold by the foot ran through a breaker like part # 9510 up to the positive post of the battery. If you tried to use the rear taillights as a power source you would draw too much for the circuit and would blow a fuse.

You will need to use a Circuit Protected Taillight Converter, part # 119178KIT, and hard wire it into the existing vehicle wiring. The procedure for installing the converter is pretty simple. I have not heard of any problems when installing a brake controller on a 2007 Suzuki XL7. The issue you heard about may have been due to hooking the red stoplight switch wire from the brake controller up to a wire dedicated to the cruise control system. The bolts that come with the Curt # C13517 will be 12mm. With your Suzuki Vitara being a 2004, the factory weld nuts can get kind of caked with road grime and debris. Before getting the hitch bolted up, it is a good idea to soak the 4 nuts with WD-40 and then give them a good scrub with a nylon tube brush, like the Fastenal # 814092. To power the RF brake controller # TK94FR, it is only necessary to connect the 12v power wire and ground wire on your 4 to 7-Way adapter. If you have a typical adapter like our part # 30717, the ground wire should be white and the power wire is typically black or red. The remaining wires can be tied off.
