Speaker 1: Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Malone kayak storage systems designed for wall or ceiling mount. Single kayak version is part number MPG340. For two kayaks, you'll need part number MPG341, and for three, part number MPG342.Now, the sling kayak storage system is going to give us a really good economical choice when it comes to storing our kayaks and getting them up and out of the way. You're going to have a lot of savings with these as compared to the wall-mounted hook or racks or even the more expensive hoist systems.Now, when comparing this sling style to other sling styles available, there are a few things that stand out. The first is going to be our connection point here at our strap. You can see we've got a heavy-duty D-ring on each side.
That allows us to use our metal carabiner rather than the plastic push-together clips that we see on some of the other ones. Now, that's going to really help to give us a generous weight capacity. We can go up to 135 pounds, so not only is it going to work out well for our lighter-weight, whitewater-style kayaks, but your heavier fishing-style, tandem, ocean-style, sit-on-top kayaks, or even canoes should work out pretty well.Now, we do have hardware to attach to either the wall or the ceiling. Of course, you will want to make you have it in something sturdy such as a stud so you have plenty of holding force. The spacing you'll use on your straps will be determined by the length of your longest boat.
They give you very detailed instructions on how to measure that and get them at the right width.Now, of course, the sling system was designed with kayaks in mind, but it also works out good with other outdoor gear. Here we've got our surfboard. Here's our paddle board. They're both held very securely.Now, based on our experience and also other customers using the system, when kept indoors, pretty much lasts indefinitely. You're not really going to have any issues with them.
If you plan on keeping them outdoors, let's say you're going to keep them on your boat dock 365 days out of the year, you're probably eventually going to have to wind up replacing it. The strap just tends to get discolored and kind of loses its strength.Now, when it comes time to load your kayak, you want to have one of your straps loose. You can see we've got here. You want to have the other one looped. We'll begin by placing one end of our kayak through the looped side.
On the other side, we can bring our strap up and around, and we'll use the carabiner and connect that to the D-loop. Once that's secure, you can adjust the tension on your straps there and bring it up higher, if you need to, or lower. Now, if you are dealing with larger boats or heavier boats, it may be a good idea to have two people when getting it put in place.That's going to complete our look at the Malone sling kayak storage system.

I installed them outdoor, time will tell how well or how long the straps can hold up against the elements, but I think they well worth a try.
This kayak storage system works very well. It's a simple, inexpensive and unobtrusive system. The hangers function exactly as shown in the etrailer video. We've found that securing our kayaks is much easier with two people than one. Also, it's important to make sure the eyelets are secured deep into a stud in the wall. Our hooks sagged a little bit but still seem very secure.

Very cost effective and efficient solution for us. We hung the 2 kayaks on a concrete block wall in the garage. Order process and delivery was very easy, with follow up notification on when to expect delivery. Delivered as promised. The hardest part of the installation was determining the height off the floor to install the eyebolts, as we have limited height under existing shelving. Perhaps a suggested height or some direction on how to determine mounting height would have been helpful in the instructions.
