Specs:

  • Inlets: 1/2" NPT
  • Fittings: 1/2" NPT x 3/8" hose barb
  • Overall dimensions: 11" wide x 3-7/8" tall x 1-1/4" deep

Note: The Derale Insta-dapt radiator adapter fits most vehicles with 5/16" transmission lines, but not all. In some cases, additional fittings or alteration of the OEM lines or hoses may be required for installation.

One of the more popular cooling systems available, the radiator-style, plate-and-fin heat exchanger provides increased surface area so that fluids can spread out along the finned chambers to cool faster. In addition to the increased surface area, this cooler also features turbulator technology, whereby fluids are agitated continuously, not only to facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure.

My original transmission cooler sprung a leak on my 1990 dodge pickup and a direct replacement couldn't be found. Etrailer had a cooler that would fit and do the job. Would highly recommend them to solve your problems and supply what's needed.

  • Complete Towing Setup Including a Transmission Cooler for a 2012 Ford Escape AWD 3.0
I would be happy to help you set your 2012 Ford Escape up for towing. You're going to need a hitch, a couple of wiring harnesses, a brake controller and ball mount. Plus the requested transmission cooler. Since your Escape does not have the towing package you are going to need two separate wiring harnesses to have a connector like the Hopkins 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket w/ Mounting Bracket item # HM40975. You will also need to hardwire in your brake controller since you do not...

  • Larger Transmission Cooler Recommendation to Replace Small One Where Fluid Still Gets Hot
The transmission cooler part # D13611 that you referenced is a pretty small cooler. Since you are towing on steeper grades a larger cooler would be your best option. If you can fit the part # D13503 instead of what you currently have this would be a much better option. This cooler measures 11" Wide x 8-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep. Basically the larger the cooler the more efficient it will be at cooling the fluid. Since you already have the hard part done of installing a cooler all you would...

  • Transmission Fluid Needed for Transmission Cooler Installation
When you install the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler # D13611 a little extra fluid will be needed. The last part of the installation instructions have you add fluid as needed and then drive the vehicle for a little while and recheck the fluid level. Not much additional fluid is needed unless much is spilled when you disconnect and reconnect the lines. Normally just a few ounces of fluid is needed.

  • Recommended Transmission Cooler For 2006 Mitsubishi Raider
For your 2006 Mitsubishi Raider, the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/ NPT Inlets - Class I -Extra Efficient # D13611 is a small but strong transmission cooler. It requires no extra fittings for installation. For a better transmission cooler, I recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets - Class III - Efficient # D13503. This cooler is designed for Mitsubishi Raiders with late-model, electronic overdrive transmissions. This...

On the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/ NPT Inlets - Class I -Extra Efficient # D13611, the fittings that come with the unit are 1/2" NPT x 3/8" hose barb. The other option for fittings are the Derale 1/2" NPT Male x 1/2" Barb Straight Hose Fitting - 2 Piece # D15712 along with the 1/2 inch inner diameter hose # D15700 and hose clamps # D13008. This slightly larger size is the only other option for the 1/2" NPT fitting on your cooler.

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2008 GMC Yukon
A transmission cooler is exactly what you need to keep the transmission fluid at an ideal temperature which is below 200 degrees. Ideally, you'll want to get the largest cooler that will fit into the available space. The best spot to install a cooler is directly behind the front grille, in front of the radiator and the a/c condenser. The Derale # D13504 would be ideal if you have enough room to accommodate its 11 inch wide by 12 inch tall size. The cooler would tap into the return line...

  • Transmission Cooler for a 2015 Toyota 4Runner Towing a Pop-up Camper

It will increase the cooling capacity beyond what the factory system can handle alone to help keep your transmission fluid at a safe temperature when you are towing as well as when you are not towing.

I looked up an online version of your 2004 Honda Pilot's owner's manual and it states that additional transmission and power steering coolers are required to tow. It also states that a trailer that weighs 1,000 pounds or more should have its own operating brakes. I've attached an article on coolers that you might like. The firs thing in choosing one is find a place to put it in your Pilot. The best place is always in front of the radiator so it will get as much air flow as possible....

  • Recommended Transmission and Power Steering Coolers for 2019 Ford Explorer
Yes, the general wisdom on supplementary fluid coolers for towing vehicles is that the transmission is top priority followed by the power steering system. The transmission cooler I recommend for your Explorer is the Derale Class III plate-fin cooler # D13503. This is because this cooler's 11 x 8-3/4-inch size allows it to very efficiently cool your transmission fluid a second time, after it is first cooled by the OEM cooler inside your radiator. More surface contact results in greater heat dissipation. I have attached two FAQ articles on transmission coolers for you to check out.
