Note: The Derale Insta-dapt radiator adapter fits most vehicles with 5/16" transmission lines, but not all. In some cases, additional fittings or alteration of the OEM lines or hoses may be required for installation.
Perhaps the simplest type of heat exchanger, the tube-fin effectively cools a variety of automotive systems. The concept is simple: Fluid cools as it travels through the core by transferring heat out to the fins. The fins then provide the surface area necessary for sufficient heat exchange to take place, allowing the heat pulled from the fluid to dissipate into the surrounding air. And to think - all this cooling power is compact enough to fit on your vehicle's frame rail! Easy, efficient and convenient.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today I'm gonna take a look at this Derale 12 inch long frame rail transmission cooler with the 11/32 of an inch hose barb inlets. Now, this transmission cooler is designed to mount onto your vehicle's frame rail. Does improve functioning in overall performance of your transmission and it'll even help extend the life of your transmission. It'll even prevent heat related failures. Now that does include everything I have laid out here on the table.
It includes the cooler you can see with the mounting brackets attached and they are a one inch offset bracket to provide increased air flow. It does come with this four foot long rubber hose with the stainless steel clamps for installation. Also comes with this Insta-dapt radiator adapter and then the mounting hardware to install the cooler to your vehicle. Now this cooler is designed, it has the built-in turbulators and that'll agitate the fluid for more efficient cooling as it goes through there. And it's designed with copper tubing, which expands into the aluminum fins to give you a maximum heat transfer.
Basically, the copper is the best material for conducting the heat out of the fluid while the aluminum is ideal for transferring and dissipating the heat. Now, we did mention this Insta-dapt adapter. This will adapt the transmission line so that you can connect your radiator to the transmission cooler quickly and easily. There's no cutting or flaring of any lines and it will fit almost any vehicle with the 5/16 inch transmission lines. And if you notice on this connector, it does include male and female threads.
Now these parts are made in the USA. We mentioned the inlets on the cooler, here, they are 11/32 of an inch hose barb size. The distance between those inlets, center to center, is 1 1/4 inches. Give you a few measurements on the cooler itself. The length from this end to this end is gonna be right at 12 3/4 inches long.
The height gonna be right at 2 1/2 inches tall. And the total depth when this is installed from the back to the front right at 1 3/4 inches deep. And the distance between the mounting holes, you can see there's two mounting holes, one on each bracket, if we go center to center is right at 11 3/4 inches. But that should do it for the review on this Derale 12 inch long frame rail transmission cooler with the 11/32 of an inch hose barb inlets..
